  3. Cheers guys, all top info. Will check the turbo after work. Bonnet is def alloy so looks like that's the only sti bit haha. Is indeed a 5 speed. Either way I'm happy. A complete wrx that seems to run ok for $675. Can't complain

  4. Ok so I don't work for these guys but they did the group buy and well the email I just got has great prices. I have a HANS device already which the the traditional U shaped that goes under harnesses but these ones are what I wish I purchased. If you have harness or race then these are literally life savers and about the best bit of safety kit you can own. Even in a mild wall tap or off road in rally they help so much. Most classes now require them but if you ca afford it then buy one anyway. prices on the site aren't the sale one and you need to figure out your size. https://jmms.co.nz/collections/driver-equipment/products/simpson-hybrid-sport-head-neck-restraint Large - huge price drop from the one listed or cheap option https://jmms.co.nz/collections/driver-equipment/products/schroth-shr-evo-fhr-device medium - reasonable price drop

  5. Thinking about having a full length underbody tray made and I was wondering if anybody has any info on how effective it is for fuel economy and slipstream etc.

  6. now just gotta contune saving up for the crazy amount it will cost for a catted downpipe lol because i cant get a decatted downpipe unless i get a custom built exhaust which still might be cheap then a cat back and downpipe

  7. I'd say you'd still pass, it's something huge like 700g or something, which is super easy to pass. His MPS was tuned, and ran crazy rich, and flew through, nowhere near the limit, and he has no cats at all.

  8. In theory it is better to keep them for moderate power levels. Apparently the later ones aren't just closed when cold then open the rest of the time and actually operate over certain load ranges to improve fuel atomization.

  9. I thought so too! Will keep an eye on those Manheim salvage auctions more often I think. Pretty lucky though, Suby wreckers must have slept in the morning of the auction lol.

  10. I think it does f*ck all unless you're full racecar and the car is low as a low low thing, and you're driving on a race-track smooth surface. Otherwise the turbulence under the car is a joke anyway. I think for fuel economy you would spend more on making up a flat bottom than you would ever save in gas. EDIT: This also completely throws out the window that Subaru spent a whole pissload of R&D on designing a bunch of aero for your car already; for example the gearbox tunnel creates a low-pressure area at the rear of the engine bay that is intended to draw air down through the intercooler and past the turbo; if you put a full under-car tray on this would probably become a high-pressure zone instead due to all the air coming in through the bonnet scoop having nowhere to go. Amateur aero is more or less a complete waste of time on the road.

  11. Was driving over to Eketehuna yesterday and between the track and Pahiatua i spotted a black legacy approaching from behind at speed. I was doing 110 and the bh Gt passed me as if i was a rolling chicane. So i speed up a little just to see how fast he was going and followed for a couple of minutes at 130ish. I then backed off and he disappered into the distance. After another few ks the legacy appeared to be slowing and i caught up again. Approaching a right hand uphill corner I noticed a huge cloud of white/blue smoke covering the road. I had to slow right down to see through the cloud and 100 meters up the road was the legacy idling away with smoke billowing from the exhaust. Some one will be looking for a new turbo. And thats my sharn...

  12. 2 years on and I’m retracting my statement til further notice Got a letter from Subaru saying they need to check the replacement to make sure it’s a good replacement and not a bad one now I have to drag the RA-R out after having it stored away nicely. Not a huge deal I suppose but still annoying
