  1. Depends on region, Auckland has one on the second Wednesday of the month alternating around 3 locations. Where are you based?
  2. no idea, for one reason or another (work, injuries etc) i've not made it to a meet in about 9 months, last one i was at had reasonable showing though. sututu recirc.... but theres no bov in the intercooler system... there should be a few hints hahaha once the car is on its suspension, with the other goodies attached and tuned, sure plenty of videos. till then though, its a case of breaking it in and tying up loose ends
  3. Oh mate you don't want to see it atm, she fiiiilthy. If I'm honest with everything that's been going on and the dramas and s*** it's not had a proper clean for about 12 months. Got a few more bits and pieces to go before it'll be ready, but this is a big hurdle out of the way. You'll see it if you're at the clubsub meet on Wednesday ...
  4. drove it home i can see this will be addictive, jeepers it has some epic sututu. gotta get Mr. genius man @gotasuby to tune it now, also ordered some complimentary goodies to go with it, finally coming together!
  5. Dropped off new (smaller base) air filter, should fit better. Oil leak found, one of the block plugs at the front, not oil pump. Win. Car being started and run up to temp, leak checked and first start oil filter check being done. Barring any other issues she'll be home tonight.
  6. Got it started Found an oil leak out the bottom of the oil pump. Mechanic to pull the oil pump out Monday, re seal, then crank and run for 45 mins ish. Then dump oil, check for shards of glitter in the oil filter, new break in oil in and drive it Let the break in begin. Need to sort out a time with @gotasuby to get it tuned... Chch is a bloody long way from Auckland but probably the only tuner I'd trust with my build
  7. The late model bright green calipers go yellow then brown if you get em warm, so just go straight for the brown and cut out the middle man hahaha
  8. Tinkered with the ecu tune image a nudge for first start and drive home tomorrow. Let's see what happens. I'm not holding my breath, I'd have assumed the first start on a new motor would have been done a day or 2 prior to collection. We'll see.
  9. Sti wagon doesn't have alloy arms. They came with gc8 steel arms Retrofitting gd alloy arms is very noticeable if you've only done one side
  10. Spent 2 hours back and forth across Auckland with a piping kit. Roll on Friday.let's see.
  11. It's not a small job. If you aren't a genius with wiring charts, it's going to cost you a fortune
  12. I can't see any pictures. Flickr is currently down
  13. Got photos from mechanic of engine going into the hole. Must say, Mantic twin plate clutches are freaking gorgeous
  14. As to the being a bit s**t, yes. To the rest, I can neither confirm nor deny until resolution
  15. Picked up a new clutch fork as my one was TOAST. Lasted 300,000 km so I guess it's done well. More delays, getting beyond steamed, further action pending. Im annoyed now.
  16. No benefit to using a Mac valve over the stock efr valve? I'm going for one of them turbosmart ewg's
  17. holy s*** i need to pay em a visit, gotta cert car for engine / turbo so may as well drop some adjustibles in there!!!
  18. 4k rpm is a hard cut, and its nearly always coupled with a hard code. does your engine light come on when the car is turned on? if it doesnt, then theres your issue. i've seen 4k cut for a dickered speed solenoid, boost control solenoid, it could be a lot of things. where are you based?
  19. not quite today but: Tuesday - dropped off car, collected loan vehicle. today, drove said loan vehicle to and from work. 2009 mitzi outlander. its not that bad, but not something i'd go and buy, that's for sure. next Friday I either pick up my car completed, or I get grumpy. on another note, finally back at work, half way through my second week back, concussions suck. Daytona fairings are on their way, bike tank has been changed, bikes all fixed short of wrapping it up in plastics. leathers have been cleaned and inspected, they have a couple of scuffs but are still good. alpinestars makes some good kit! its good to have progress on the car, its been an 18 month saga, hopefully drawing to a close next friday
  20. LOL christ no, with a popped ac joint in my left shoulder and a broken collarbone in my right, im chomping at the bit to get back out on the bike. its an addiction even a supercar couldnt match in terms of acceleration and... intensity. 200kmh along pukekohe back straight, before buttoning off early for the chicane, the acceleration is phenominal, and they are only "small" 675 cc triples. im looking at an MT09 sp next... but no, car related decisions. cant say much as its messy as hell, but yeah.
  21. well, after crashing my street triple in march 2018, and the subsequent rehab process, then 6 weeks around europe over christmas, returning to nz to then biff my daytona, and subsequent healing time, i've come to some decisions. a few people know about the build saga thats happening with my v7. please do watch this space.
  22. Depends. Your particular car, that front thing draws air in from around the bottom edge of the bonnet. Kinda need that to get it running right. If you want the "wooshy" noises, take the air box out and remove the white plastic "milk bottle" attached to the bottom of the black air box. Leave the resulting hole open. It Allows extra cold air to be drawn in from behind the drivers side foglights area. As far as performance gains, moot point. The Subaru factory airboxes are REALLY good, and for the most part, "upgrading" to a cai, particularly an under bonnet, in engine bay style pod filter will end up with you going backwards in power. But nothing will give you anything like the sort of gains you'll get from a tune ;-)
  23. checked the boot? i know there were 2 big blue fishbins of your bits next to the car before it left the old workshop, with all sorts scattered through em.
  24. correct, if swapping to the gd arms in the rear you'll need gd axles
  25. i think iridiums and platinums were about 50k intervals. thats what... 10 sets of coppers or one set of iridiums. some quick back of envelope maths tells me that iridiums and platinums are a bigger one off cost, but cheaper long run. even if you did $7 copper plugs, at 10,000km intervals, that still works out at like $140 for 50,000km and more hassle, than a set of iridiums or platinums that can be had for around the $100 mark and done once. plus, alloy heads, steel plugs... the wear on the sparkplug threads are another factor to consider, especially if you are a bit rough
