  1. why dont you just use the sti heads?
  2. you have to pay up if you put it on hold unless its a classic car. I agree ring and tell them it got nicked see what they say.
  3. look for a late revision. if you get a bd5a there a pig to convert. a bd5b or bd5c is what you want. makes the conversion that much simpler.
  4. I would use a closed deck also. if you paying to get a semi closed pinned then it will be a similar cost for rear thrust conversion. also what hijacka said for around twice the cost of the crank machining you could get a new one (is it suspect) just what id do anyway
  5. yea there was also a viedo comparing it to the v10 sti. I found a blue one I like but there asking quite alot for it
  6. just putting it out there..... yes I sold a v7 one 2 weeks ago that let go but I do agree with you it is ott. mostly for the likes of dacerx putting gc8 gear in a gc1 or whatever it was . same chassis but swapping the gear over required hoops for cert
  7. oil pressure, oil temp, 02 sensor imo would be good to have. theres bound to be a large list of possibilities just look in the bay of a wrc car theres sensors ontop of sensors
  8. nothing else is needed but you can hook lots of things up to help protect you engine by setting limits. rather than having gauges run the sensors to the link which negates the fact you might not see the gauge when shit hits the fan
  9. you need pistons to suit if you decide to use a 2.5 crank in a different configuration other than 2.5 . so youll have to use am forged. wiseco and je do pistons specific for the application it adds up
  10. a ej257 crank will plop strait in a rear thrust block. the likes of a v7sti block or newer. yes with the 250t crank the big end journal size is the difference. ive ised a ej22 block for a 2.35 and now im using a closed deck block and sleveing it for another 2.35 getting any block machined for rear thrust isnt that bigger job. ive done 2 and ist around $$200ish
  11. this is by far the easiest or stay ej20 . really as soon as you walk away from the standard engines the budget will rise.
  12. the 250t crank (phase1 2.5 crank) is a center thrust and also has 48mm journals so you cant use it . edit (you might be able to but I dont know of a combo that works) ej257 cranks (phase 2 2.5 crank) are rear thrust and have a 52mm journal . these match ej20 rods
  13. id stick with the ones you have . there a better coil but the clips do snap. eaisly fixed with a cabel tie or just solder some new plug ends on
  14. aaa yes the fork missed that out. imo the r160 would be the easiest. rear r180 axles are hard to find at a reasonable price also
  15. no change needed for clutch slave and master. if your in need of a 6 speed clutch I have one and believe I have a flywheel. but you can use 5 speed gear
  16. correct basically with this you cant run any turbo other than a secondary turbo off a twin turbo. not really worth the effort compared to buying some headers and a downpipe
  17. tbh thats the sensible route to take. but you should know this if you\'ve had experience with them
  18. I have a set and gt legacy also has a set in a bc5 racecar. I havent used mine yet but stripped them down and regreased/ checked them myself with a little advise. there from what ive also read there really good
  19. lets be honest its not really ideal/cost effective compared to frontmount. who knows have you got some logs of temps?
  20. Yep blue. Best daily I have ever had with only few little mods. New suspension, wheels, swaybars, exhaust, headers, up pipe and beat rush guard. About to fit a bigger turbo and reflash her. super jealous! there seams to be little to choose from at the moment . may have to look at importing
  21. jase got 2 kits in maby 4 weeks ago. i think he got them direct of them
  22. crazy hell be selling something that has a high chance of being the first thing to break ! whats he asking? suppose you have tried to buy elsewhere . my 6 speed conversion came out of a bg5 and went into my 1990 rs just like lego but you need those shafts for it to work.
  23. Why do you prefer the 2.5? because bigger displacement would be better for towing (have no idea if this applys to you) there still a perky engine an there still rev happy. i believe there still twin scroll , avcs ect so good spool up on turbo. (even better than 2l ) the jdm may have a better tune but to be safe with nz fuel you would want a reflash anyway. if you know the pickups are weak its a easy fix. dont know why this would be restricted to the 2.5 tho as the pickups are the same. but to fix just buy a twin scroll jdm pickup and swap it.
