  1. Can confirm, is the actual main driving force behind riding on bumpies Source: spent most of teens/early 20s cutting sweet laps The early 00's were a glorious time of lax regulation and trashy fashion
  2. Funny story there Did that but with a 1 way valve on a gen 1 honda city turbo, lasted a good 9 months or so on 25psi I've never driven a car so hilarious since Sorry for the slight thread derail tho I think that also had long since happened
  3. To be fair a lot of people don't use their real name on the bookface - unless that dudes name really is Hemi'n'Tanisha RFB Southsydefolyfe As it is the thing I hate on the facebook pages is I can't put the normal smartass replies I'd like to because it's actually me, not this alter ego known as Marky
  4. Some things you don't need to buy brand new - exhausts are one of them Keep an eye out - even strongs (www.subaruspeed.co.nz) do complete 3" systems for like $200 at times, ditto for a range of downpipes If too loud can always add resonators for $notmuch
  5. This is just a general heads up to all who may come on the forums - Remember that what is said online here is not private info, anyone - and that means anyone - can read it. This includes the warranty advisers from Subaru, the NZ police, Insurance Assessors, people of that ilk who you may not want to know certain things you may have done. Allegedly. If you post on here about the mods you put on, then removed to claim the gearbox you blew up, or the wall you hit at hampton downs - they do look on here, especially if you have a sticker on the car saying "I heart this website". Double points if you put up photos or videos with your number plate visible. It's not an old wives tale - there are members on here who have seen their post history brought up in court proceedings, I personally know folks who have had warranties voided after photos emerged of cars at track days - and know of at least one person who's been double hit with a declined insurance claim followed by insurance fraud case for an accident claimed while on the racetrack Don't be dumb
  6. I'd say that ship has already sailed champ
  7. Or as has been said a blockage or fcked water pump If it was rooted head gaskets, wouldn't more revs make the problem worse not better?
  8. Just go to pickapart mang $20 and 20 mins and you're sorted
  9. Why aren't you doing it yourself already?
  10. You'll find out once the radiator goes back in? If you leave it idling for ages, and it starts to cook, if you just give it 2-3k rpms in neutral for a little while does the temp drop back down again Are you sure the fans are blowing the right way
  11. I wasnt sure if the no-past-5000 thing was all the time or intermittent If it's intermittent I'm thinking maybe something sticking open or closed when it shouldn't be
  12. It sounds like an issue with either the second turbo, or the switchover mechanisms from single to twin - if one of the valves is opening when it should or shouldn't then that will do it, ditto if the second turbo is just kaput Could be the exhaust valve stuck closed Could be the intercooler valve stuck closed Could be the blow off valve from the secondary stuck open or faulty It's hard to nail down from what you describe, but would be relatively quick to rule out those obvious culprits to someone who knows their way around them (a boost reading would help a little too) Where in the country are you?
  13. You're not talking about the normal loss they have between the turbo switchover are you? Does it ever bring up a check engine light? Do you have a boost gauge on the car?
  14. You want a tactrix cable and the free software it comes with It will do everything you want and there's off the shelf tunes you could load on for free go fast (like an STi S202 tune for arguments sake) or go down the road of learning to DIY it, or pay someone to do it
  15. They heat up sitting there idling It makes sense if you're driving a 500hp kenworth which lives on boost whenever it's moving and only cools down from that sort of load at idle - almost any petrol car sees no real benefit from a turbo timer other than letting you walk away from it hearing it from the outside They're a gimmick
  16. Ill raise you a twenny cent piece it's the afm Purely based on random guesswork for the hell of it
  17. Faffed about for years with trying launch control at x rpm, trying to shift at x rpm, trying to balance handbrake and clutch slip etc For your average 200-220wkw street car just run full pressure in the tyres, when the first yellow flashes floor it, when the last one flashes dump the clutch as fast as your foot can move, flat shift to second is fun, and don't shift at peak power shift after it - you want to be straddling the hump in power not dropping down to climb it again every time in a higher gear. Plan b if you're not worried about the other guy and just the clock is just dump it off the limiter, I always do. If nothing else it's entertaining. In a lower powered 4wd a bit of wheelspin is good - it keeps it on the boil as bogging down basically writes the run off In that sort of power range in a 4x4 theres a good second of difference between S*** driving and ruthless - I had 180wkw 1450kg mitsis running mid 12s for years and it hurts to see far more powerful stuff run slower Remember the first 100m counts the most and every instant you're not on the throttle you're losing time
  18. Have you considered unbending the car The car is bent, you're going to have this problem with every single wof oh and also can you please not drive at night near me or anyone I know thanks
  19. I thought they were some discontinued advanti's? (Or maybe CSW's or something?) Just take one off once you get the car, there's normally some kind of casting on the inside to say who made it They'd look alright with some low and sprayed white I reckon
  20. Learner driver crashed his lambo into my wagon He's unemployed and uninsured, figures
  21. Looks like like a different car, smaller almost. Way nicer! Make the stock one look really gammy
  22. Which car? The v6? Your diagnosis is probably correct assuming nothing on the car has changed. To verify it's not simply the ecu doing something weird do a reset and see how it behaves as for the fuelling - "probably" - can't be 110% sure. They generally are fine at the 18psi range but depending on modifications it could be pinging for that brief period to answer if you think it's the gate itself - get a bike pump feeding into it with your boost gauge teed off
  23. My instant thought was of minor concern re why the orange man was trying to go three fingers deep in it I need a hobby
