  1. Yes I have used them... the effects are purely imaginary... just like the STi carbon fibre strut brace.
  2. For fitting I usually only pay $18 to $25 per tyre at Bridgestone... A work mate of mine got charged $30 per tyre the other day... plus the $90 for the alignment. I told him to complain and what I paid for fitment... he was told that all their prices have just gone up.
  3. k-brace is a joke... they are made out of tubular aluminium and weigh nothing... they bolt to a steel subframe and chassis which are 100 times more substantial. May as well brace your chassis with race tape.
  4. I usually go to a specific place that I trust to do a good job... I used to pay $70 which I thought was expensive, but thought it was acceptable because they do custom alignments etc... they now charge $90. I thought that the big chain tyre and alignment places were much cheaper, but Bridgestone Direct have just started charging $90 as well. Maybe Tonys is cheaper? I'm just going to do piece of string alignments for now.
  5. I am sick for paying for wheel alignments... they have become way too expensive. $90 for 30 minutes of work that a monkey could be trained to do.
  6. Mine does it all the time... just the swaybar.
  7. Try unscrewing it with another flat head screwdriver wedged behind... often those screws can't get going themselves but will with some encouragement.
  8. Just yank them out and move on with your life.
  9. I use the 2004 STi manual... and they are US spec manuals... but as close as I can find. JAP stuff is all in Japanese Most of the info is applicable...
  10. AE82 Corolla. As above, back when petrol was dirt cheap and $10 would last all week.
  11. I'm betting you have the wrong sock on the pump... the stock sock is pretty big and has an extension on it bent down so the sock sits right into the fuel tank. Check it and then come back and update us.
  12. So your first post when you say that you have surge when hard cornering means what exactly?
  13. Fuel surge when cornering can not be the regulator or even the pump... they are not affected by lateral g forces. Fuel surge is air being sucked by the pump because there is no fuel around the pickup.
  14. The stock system should be good enough, but if he has the right sock and is still getting surge, then he must be driving it pretty hard... in which case he needs to keep the tank full or get an external setup... or stop driving so hard on the road and do some motorsport.
  15. For a road car there is only one solution... an external fuel pump and swirl pot. @GC8E2DDhas a really nice bit of kit for that. It's either that or never let your tank go below 1/2 full.
  16. I have never noticed anything dramatic happen when pulling the pin... there should be very little play in the belt... after a few turns of the crank it should be at full tension. I can't find a specification for the belt tension in the manual, but there is some stuff about how the tensioner should behave. Are you measuring the guide clearance on both sides? I think you should buy some proper feeler gauges.
  17. 1mm is good.. but it's not normal to have burning smells or melted stuff on the belt. I would take off the belt and all the pulleys and idlers an inspect.
  18. Check the clearance of the crank gear cambelt guide... looks a tad close on one side. You may have damaged the cambelt.
  19. It will spool way later but make a tonne more power. It will make you car way less fun in the city, and way more likely to get your license suspended on the open road.
  20. AFM? Yes you need that. Or do you when a large expansion chamber right before the throttle? Don't know what that is for... all my Subaru NA cars have had that.
  21. Not talking about all makes and models and the coupe was just an example. Obviously they are not as rare as a model T Ford but they are getting few and far between.
  22. Does the slave cylinder piston move smoothly and return to it normal position if pushed all the way in and within a short period of time?
  23. Is there fluid leaking from any part of the hydraulic system?
