  1. I was just told that fitting newage (Version 8) hubs to a Classic GC8 throws the camber out of whack and I'd need some Whiteline camber adjustment bolts to rectify this. Can anyone verify?
  2. Getting a set of STI Genome gauges,in a few days, but they come with a pod for a GD,not a GC8,like my \'99 RA V Ltd. I must have looked at every pod there is on the market,I\'d love one that would clip in place of the centre storage bin lid,but I can\'t find one. Not even sure if I want a carbon one or one that matches my dash, probably the latter. Carbon\'s a bit cool-ten-years-ago. I\'d love to hear from anyone who\'s used any triple centre pod and how you installed them, what quality were they etc..
  3. So the STI five spoke alloys on my '99 RA V Ltd. were a bit curbed up,so I picked up another three rims yesterday. They're close to perfect, but I want *perfect*. I've painted wheels in the past, but since I'm going down the restoration/preservation route with my WRX,I want to get the gold paint exactly right. Does anyone have a paint code for 'em? I guess I could get some brewed up by L.G. Smitts etc. What type of paint should I use? Should I clear coat 'em? I have my own bead blaster/compressor and gun etc,so actually restoring them isn't a problem,I just want to get the colour and finish right on the money.
  4. Wow,nice write up,man. I'll be undertaking this job very soon,I looked at the fortyone.co.nz site, but couldn't find those bushings listed on there. I guess I should give them a call. Always loved the look of that green WRX of yours, man, very tastfully done!
  5. Hey all, Does anyone know where I can buy a good downpipe for my '99 WRX RA? GD downpipes seem to be everywhere, but I can't seem to find one for my GC.
  6. Anyone know of a good (ie:cheap) source of IACV's? Mine is poked. :-X Replaced the o2 sensor and fixed that fault, now it's the IACV. Subaru want $780 + GST. :
  7. Hey slydog, how did you get on with rebuilding your 4 pot calipers? I'm picking a pair up on Saturday and I want to put a new seal kit on 'em,where did you get your kit from?
  8. Has anyone got the DENSO part number for a 1999 WRX O2 sensor?
  9. Screw Magnatec! I'm friends with someone who's worked at an autoparts chain for a long time (it ends with *****cheap) and of all the oil they buy in,Magnatec is the cheapest,by a HUGE margin. Other oils, like Mobil,Valvoline,Penrite etc, they make about an $8 - $10 profit on,max. Magnatec,I crap you not, they buy in for $8.50 for 4 litres! That's the reason most garages stock it and push it,it's cheap crap and if your engine grenades, they get to make some more money off you by rebuilding your engine ( A Subaru tech at Wingers told me this, when I asked him why they used Magnatec!). My car was running 10-30 Magnatec, when I bought it,it had an oil and filter change a month before I took posession...As soon as I found out it was Magnatec,I drained it and filled it up with 10-40 Nulon. The Magnatec I drained out looked as dark as marmite. The Nulon's been in the car for three months and is as clean as the day I put it in. The car LOVES it. It's quiter, runs cooler and is staying super clean. Royal Purple did an oil shootout test and Magnatec came in last...WAY last. Penrite came first,Royal Purple second and Nulon third. Gotta be an unbiased test for their own product to come in second...
  10. I'd check not only the fuel pump, but the entire fuel system,lines,filters,relays,pump-the lot. When a car throws a fault code for a certain sensor-like the TPS-It pays again to not only check that sensor, but the wiring to and from that sensor, plugs etc. Same deal with the AFM/Intake.
  11. I'd love an STI carbon brace for my '99 RA...Anyone know if they bolt right on? If someone has one for sale/trade I'm keen.
