  1. Does anyone here go to the Classic Cars meet up in Takapuna (Smales Farm), last Sunday of each month ? I went along two days ago and found there were very few Japanese cars. A group of us SVX owners are trekking along last Sunday in November. It would be nice to have a bit of a line up of classic Subarus. Might see you there.
  2. I bought the special cable & Evoscan software from Hamish, but haven\'t been able to get it to work. I use a Mac day to day and so have limited patience or attention span when it comes to troubleshooting software running on a Windows laptop. Is there anyone here who lives within 200km of Hamilton with Windows & Evoscan experience willing to have a go at getting mine up and running ? Happy to pay cash for you to have a go with further bonus if you\'re successful. Best to PM me as well as posting here, as I don\'t come here often. cheers, Shane
  3. Because the trans (and therefore the rear diff) came from an SVX then if the guts do have to be swapped over, then I expect that was done by the previous owner when they fitted the Legacy trans into the SVX. I do have a spare SVX here (not the parts car), reg : YZ4677 that I\'d be interested in selling. I suspect though that the market price these days is much less than I\'d want for it.
  4. I have a Subaru SVX which shudders at low speed. We have discovered that the replacement automatic transmission fitted to it (sourced from my parts SVX) was originally fitted into a 1994-96 non-turbo Legacy. Transmission type = TZ102YBABA-CF We suspect the problem is the centre diff is under stress because the rear diff ratio in an SVX is 3.9:1, but the trans (ex. Legacy) is expecting 4.1 or 4.44. Can someone here from the Legacy community confirm for me the final drive ratio on this transmission ? We think the solution is to simply swap the diff from the parts car across to the good car, so that the trans is mated up to it\'s original diff again (assuming the diff was replaced when the trans was replaced). But we want to try to test this theory before spending a lot of time swapping parts over. Secondly, if there is anyone here who wants to earn some cash over the holiday season and would like to swap over the diffs at my place (near Hamilton). I\'ll be happy to pay cash and feed you well. I can provide a concrete floored, covered workshop to work in but you\'ll need to supply your own tools. cheers, Shane
  5. If you own an SVX or Vortex, we\'re planning a bit of a road trip & BBQ on Dec 1 or 2. Please PM me for details. Shane
  6. Recent purchase, removed seats and scrubbed the carpets. People just shouldn\'t eat in their cars. I was going to post before and after photos but it seems I have to have them posted online somewhere else first, which is lame.
  7. Cleaned, dyed & conditioned the leather seats. Full instructions and photos here : http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?p=712180
  8. The manuals appear to be for a LHD car. Illustrations are for LHD and speedo drawing is in MPH. It may well cover both RHD and LHD. Haven't looked enough. Shane
  9. I have a JDM 4WS SVX with a toasted auto trans, TZ102VL1AA. I've found a good trans from a NZ new SVX, TZ102YP1BA Can anyone tell me if a NZ new auto will fit into a JDM SVX ? Does anyone want to sell me a JDM auto to fit ? Can anyone interpret the codes above ? Are there other known compatible trans from different Sub. models that will fit JDM SVX ? I could start pulling apart my other SVX, but it's still legal and in good nick so that's a last resort. cheers, Shane
  10. Are you still looking ? I have a full set (4 volumes) of Factory Service Manuals for 1988 XT and a Chilton manual for XT & XT-6.
