  1. son of a.... on a completely unrelated note, anyone want to buy a 2000 GTB? ;D
  2. I\'ve got a 2000 Legacy GT, I\'ve noticed the check engine light come on sometimes while driving, it doesn\'t stay on for long though. Finally got around to checking the error codes and I\'ve got a 12 and 22. Apparently a 12 is "Abnormal signal emitted from starter switch". Not so concerned about that, could be my dodgy immobiliser. I\'m a little more worried about 22, "Abnormal voltage produced in knock sensor monitor circuit". I\'ve got a service manual and it says the knock sensor is on the top of the engine block under the intake manifold on the passenger side. I can\'t seem to find it... Anyone got any ideas what to do next?
  3. Thanks for the help everyone, its turned out to be the bearing in the air conditioning belt tensioner. My engine is now quiet, but I have no aircon till I get a new part... I don't know what was worse
  4. I checked, he wasn't hiding in the engine bay.on a serious note, the noise is definitly from the front of the engine, not the exhaust
  5. Power steering is fine, I removed the alternator/power steering belt and the noise is still there.
  6. So I have a whiney noise coming from the front of the engine. Something has obviously worn out... What I'm after is recommendations of who in Wellington I should take it to to get it fixed. Its still under an autosure warranty so I'm after quality over cash and they must be MTA members. Prefer city over hutt as well
  7. sounds like a lot of money to make your car look weird and retro
  8. only happens under load and when its happening backing off the throttle makes it quiet so i don't think it would be something on the fan belts. it starts disppearing when the primary turbo starts spooling
  9. No pod filter, doesn't sound like water either. Only non-standard thing on my car is an after market rear muffler and an engine grounding kit, but they were put on before it was imported
  10. between about 1700 and 2100 rpm my engine makes bit of a whirring noise. I'm pretty sure it isn't the "sti" exhaust as this resonates between about 1000 and 1300. Its like its happening just before the point when the primary starts spooling up. If I'm going up a hill in 3rd and the revs stay the same, the noise stays as well. The weird thing is my old honda sounded similar to this as well Any ideas?
  11. Cheers, it magically started working for one morning but now its back to being a dick. Now my easter holiday is over I might be able to reset it
  12. Many years ago when I was a teenager I had a beltronics It saved me from many vans, but the only thing it really did with cop cars is save you about 10kph. If you're going over 120 and it goes off, chances are they've got you before you can react. These days I just don't speed, that works even better
  13. I looked at it parked outside the garage and thought about moving it inside
  14. I have one on my bh5 it cost about $1400 for 4 years and its about paid for itself already $100 excess, road side assistance and covers absolutely everything except brake pads and exhaust
