  1. Hey guys, Nothing major, just a bit of market research. Who would be keen on a sound off/car show in the centre of Hamilton? Hit me back so I can start organising!
  2. Just ordered a set of BC Gold Adjustables for my 02 SG5 Forester, I was wondering if anyone else had installed these or had experience with them, and what their opinions where?
  3. This is my 02 Forester XT. A work in progress, after the last owner decided to be cheap about the servicing & maintenance. In my possession it has been brought right back up to its servicing schedule including cam belt. has been fitted with a Walbro 500hp highflow fuel pump, Slotted front and rear brake rotors & high performance brake pads, Autometer boost gauge, and has had multiple stereo combinations. I have just ordered a full set of new BC Gold adjustable suspension. and will be installing shortly.
  4. Yea man couldnt have been any easier! scared the hell out of me when i saw the fuel tank under the car... Now that ive got my Walbro high flow pump in the thing drives so much better too, way more pickup than before... oh i forgot to mention that when i pulled the pump out, the filter was not attached to it. found that lying in the bottom of the tank... :-\
  5. thanks man, although i just went downstairs and dove into it, found it under all the boot trim pieces when i folded the rear seats forward. got the pump out. now gotta wait for my walbro item to get here tomorrow ;D
  6. Hi guys, Anyone know how to remove a fuel pump in an 02 SG5 forester? I had a peak under neither and under the back seat but it looks to me like the whole tank has to come out, which wouldnt be a problem except the driveshaft, diff and exhaust are in the way... Any help???
  7. mean, i already get trade prices through work but i will see if they can help me out in any other way. thanks for the heads up
  8. Yes they are. im gonna take it to wingers so i know exactly what the issue is so i can fix it myself, just get them to finish the diagnostics i think. although even if its not the pump and just the controller, im still inclined to do the pump anyway. fit a walbro or something similar... ideas?
  9. wow, boys got skills lol, thanks a lot man that helps a lot. a better scan tool would make me a bit happier, i can only monitor some things in real time, and pull some codes with mine...
  10. Ok so today i had what i guess you could call a breakthough in my fuel surge issue. i pulled out from an intersection, it got up on boost, coughed and spluttered a bit, then as i slowed down for a roundabout, i put my foot on the clutch, the revs took a nose dive to zero, lost all power (obviously) then creeped around the corner out of traffics way, and my engine light came on! so i thought i finally have a fault code to point me in the right direction, so got my diagnostic equipment and plugged in, it came back with stored code p0230 - fuel pump control. its still in the history but the light itself has not returned, even after i got it running, it will idle for a while but wont rev at all. so my new question is, do these things have a separate module for the fuel pump, or is the controller part of the fuel pump itself??
  11. Thanks guys, will definetly try swapping those sensors over and see then, will let you know how i get on
  12. im not well versed on suby codes, but if that was the case would it not bring up a code for a crank sensor? i might just start by replacing the 2 sensors and see what happens...
  13. My mate has his 99 GT Legacy wagon in my garage at the moment (taking up time I could be working on my Gixxer I might add haha), it wont start, just winds over, and has brought up code 13, which to my knowledge is a cam sensor code. I have checked the cambelt and everything there is good, and have checked for simple things, oil, water etc. But I am now at a loss as to what the problem could be as I am unaware if the motor will cut out because of a faulty cam sensor. any help would be much appreciated guys, has anyone else seen this before??
  14. i think its idling a bit low, but ive never been in another one to compare
  15. any idea on how to test it?
  16. Thanks, i might look into that one, i did clean it a while ago and noticed an improvement, but it didn\'t last so i didn\'t really think that much of it, but i will have to try again and see what happens
  17. I would hope not, the guys that did the spark plugs for me are from wingers
  18. If it was an O2 sensor, wouldn\'t the problem be constant? I dunno if I mentioned it earlier or not but it doesn\'t happen all the time
  19. Ive already changed the spark plugs with platinums, but Ive been leaning towards either spark supply or fuel.
  20. I am hoping someone here can help me out, I have an SG5 02 forester XT turbo manual that is having a bit of a surging issue. It doesnt happen all the time, and it doesnt matter whether it is on boost or not, but at low to early rpm, when i give it slight acceleration, the car starts surging. It will start running normally once the revs are up. I was wondering if this is a known fault or has anyone struck this issue before?
