  1. Anyone use an air oil separator on their race car? Feed it back to the sump not a better idea? No?
  2. I got a devils own system and asked them to ship it in two packages. Makes it slightly more expe dive (paying for shipping twice) but cheaper than import tax.
  3. Scottie?........How is this project?............Just interested as I see you have discovered theory and practical are not always related.......Hence why I had to do 3 prototypes before success. Hey mate! The coolers worked great. Been out of the house with an EQC rebuild so not checked this site for a while. Got excellent gains after a Dyno tune but these cores real benefit is in flowing higher boost pressures. Negligible gains till the boost gets wound up. Away overseas for a month shortly for work but my theoretical concept has been given the green light from a number of fluid dynamic specialists who are currently working on sme pretty exciting projects. It will take a not unsubstantial amount of money to create a working prototype to prove the concept so will be a project to do once I\'m back. I am very excited about the possibilities! Can\'t disclose anything really about it at this stage save to say that once proven it will be a matter of road testing on different vehicles and measuring real road results before making a decision on future options.
  4. Torque split between front and rear could be managed two ways. Either a de-tuned front engine producing around 75% power compared to the rear... Or with a little programming and DIY you could have an accelerometer controlling the computer of the front engine to shift between two states of tune depending on the G forces it is sensing. On a straight under WOT. full power. Sensing lateral G forces? 75% power. I don\'t think this is as crazy or difficult an idea as it seems at first glance... TransmIssuon is the trick but not crazy difficult. I am already planning! Give me a few years and it might Just happen :~)
  5. Na I think the opposite. Easy to do and cheap power. I will start designing it now.
  6. Yea Trevor Crow has done some cool things. See these two examples regularly and I love the rear driver Pneumatic gear shifting sounds like a great idea. got any links?
  7. There is plenty of room for box behind the rear wheels and engine in front of them behind the seats. [quote name='Marky said: sort of thing best done with an east west fwd motor which can be packaged properly, even then the "why bother" part of it comes to mind Well I am a sheet metal engineer and its not hard for me to find a way to fit it physically etc. So with that out the way a reliable 600HP subaru for MUCH less than a single 600HP subaru motor build seems a good incentive?
  8. Wondering if anyone has heard of or seen somewhere a twin engine legacy or impreza? One engine driving the front wheels another behind the driver powering the rear wheels. Just wondering if it has been done befor and also what possible complications you could foresee? I see the linkages to the rear transaxle as one major challenge?
  9. Hey guys, Been fluffing around with my mates twin going to single... about the 02 sensor. I have a hole in single turbo manifold where one used to be... The sensor wont reach so I plan to plug up the threaded hole in the single turbo manifold and put the sensor behind the turbo on the down pipe? all G? Also anyone have some spare EFI hose in chch that I could buy off you? Otherwise where is cheapest?
  10. Small gains on STD but will have dyno results in a few weeks of before and after The design theory is something VERY different.
  11. Hahaha! thanks mate. Tomorrow is a very exciting day for me... It is D-day for a theoretical design that I have been developing for over a year. I am meeting with one of NZ\'s top fluid dynamics engineers. I have talked to numerous engineers that have dabbled in fluid dynamics but now with this meeting tomorrow and access to computational fluid dynamics I will get either the green or red light on weather or not my design is going to net the gains I am chasing. If I get the green light then WATCH THIS SPACE as I will go into rapid prototype production/testing and am willing to commit large funds to push my concept into reality with comparison to the best coolers money can currently buy and flow and heat transfer models to demonstrate the gains. A little nervous as it could all just be in my head! hahaha... well if so ill just have to fine tune these wee beauties further and market them.
  12. You don\'t loose the CD. I use the grom its brilliant! When I got the unit I asked about the bluetooth option and they said it wasn\'t available here yet? has anyone heard different?
  13. I bench tested the temps so just a jaycar duel input thermo.
  14. thanks mate, I would rather go WAIC for better performance also but there is the simplicity bonus that air to air offers that is a good suit in this application.
  15. If anyone is interested I am selling two of these intercoolers below on Tradme... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=556694751 I have been running one of these on my car for over a year now with no problems and purchased a manometer to bench test the flow rates. The values are meaningless to most as points of measurement but to say my design considerably outflows the standard core meaning a much lower pressure drop. PM me if you want a good deal on these coolers I will give them to Clubsub members for a good discount :~)
  16. This was my conventional understanding but I saw MANY guys porting them all the way to the gasket. I wont be dont worry
  17. Awesome. I think even if it's just for the fun of it I'm gonna get out the dremel! Tell me did you leave a 1mm rebate of material for the gaskets or port right tithe edge of the gasket?
  18. Anyone else out there done this? Sorry to resurrect a dead ol thread but... I am thinking about match porting the headers on my LGT. I recently single turbo'd my mates old twin turb legacy and the ports were badly miss matched which got me wondering if the newer turbo castings were any better or not... Grim speed sell ported stock manifolds but don't say anything scientific or measured about any power increases. I was also surprised at how many people were porting them out to the exact size of the gasket!? This won't help the life of the gasket surely! Also has anyone ported the actual alloy head exhaust ports to match the size? Thanks PS I am really after some qualified info of an improvement in doing this mod. Has anyone measured an improvement?
  19. He is creating the loom for the engine to computer then trimming the standard loom for all the lights ect... I hate electrics! Give me a motor or gearbox and I'm away but electrics do my head in...
  20. I have my car in at a mates garage getting a full electrical loom made for it. I am useless at nearly all things electrical and have no idea what this will end up costing me. How much do you think I can expect to spend getting the loom made? I have given him A full stock 1996 Wrx loom to work from.
  21. Ended up going with the stage two devils own... It has a vac/boost line that controls the pump pressure to the nozzel. What size Nozzle you guys running? The guys at devils own told me I n Should run nothing over 7 and really only a 5 is a good suit.
