spuddling aka IMPRZF

Evening all, Have recently brought a 2012 BM GT S Legacy, black, leather, full STi exhaust, 2.5 turbo and best of all 6 speed manual. Its a amazing car to drive, however the speedo, fuel consumption gauge and odometer has recently stopped working. Cruise control still works as normal. Wondering if anyone has had the same or similar experience and what may have caused the issue. Have checked to see any broken or loose cables, sensors etc but to no avail. The newer Subaru’s are a bit more fancy than the old STi parked beside it in the shed! Any suggestions greatly appreciated as the nearest Subaru dealer is somewhat of a drive away, we are located in Fiordland.

Yip, they seem fine but Im no mechanic. Could this possible be a head gaasket gone? When I checked the coolant it seemed under a fair bit of pressure when I removed the cap.............

No and no. That is what worries me, last time it did this Wingers ran the diagnosis equipment but couldnt find a fault anywhere, but its there for sure

Well it seems as though the problem has started again. Driving to drop kids off at kindy started miss firing at any revs any gear, almost stalled when coming to a stop, around 200 rpm then will kick up to 900/100rpm at idle but missing like heck. Also started to get quite hot around 3/4 up temp gauge, normally runs around 1/2. Turned heater on to full temp etc and temp gauge dropped down to 1/2 again. Car was also giving wisps of smoke/steam when stopped. Parked up in shed now waiting to go to wingers on Tuesday, dosnt look good to me........

Seems the rears had tapered rear springs so no go with the GF8 top hats, went down to Subaroo and swapped for a set of GF rears so all good now and everything fits as it should. Something to remember for next time, should have looked and known they wouldnt fit but I guess I was having one of "those" days. And I dont have saggy either.

Well the fronts fit but rears are a no go, guess im back to trying to find some gf8 rears, sigh.

So I have found a set of springs and struts out of a BC legacy, if im correct these will fit in my GF if i change over the top hats?

So your saying bc to bg struts fit just got to change top hats? What about springs?

Hi all just wondering will any legacy suspension fit into a gf8? Trying to track some down and seems to be an abundance of legacy struts and bugger all gf8 stuff. Any help appreciated

Well I talked to the mechanic who looked at our car and he swore blue that there was no faults in the computer no issues with the laptop plugged in during their test drive no problem what so ever. Driving home from the shop car still surging, not as bad but still doing it, so pull the banjo bolt out this morning, pull all the fragments of f***ed filter out and what do you know......car is driving mint. So a couple hundy to the mechanics for a fault that they couldn\'t diagnose and half an hour of my time to fix it. Worth doing in my mind.

So far the wagon has driven mint since the winger treatment but will have a look at the banjo bolt tomorrow and see what comes of that. Still has a wee bit of hesitation at low rpm on wot but once pulling 1800rpm plus she pulls like a schoolboy. That 22b is still looking good though....

Well got the car back from winger hamilton today, turns out they can\'t find anything wrong with it. No faults, cel etc. they took it for a test run with the computer plugged in and amazingly the car didnt put a foot wrong. They seem to think it is an injector fault but dont want us to pay for new injectors ($1000+) until they know for sure so they just cleaned everything imaginable and stuck it all back together with fingers crossed. I think if it does it again its time to trade up to the 22b they have parked in their show room........

Would bg struts fit into gf chassis?

Sounds good will do the basics and see what comes up. Is there anyway of checking the codes like on the older Subaru\'s? Forgot to mention in the first post that it also has a very rough idle. Has had a new air/fuel sensor fitted recently as well.

Hi all, driving home from Raglan today my wagon started to do funny things, wondering if anyone else has had the same issue. Car is a 06 BP5 wagon, 2 litre turbo, 5 speed manual. The issue is under 2000 rpm the car started to lurch like it was running out of gas or like riding a bucking bronco. It did it in any gear but only below 2000 rpm, once over 2100 it drove like normal. Also tried it in Eco and non Eco mode ad still did the bucking thing. Car is regularly serviced and by no means thrashed. Any ideas? Or anyone had this issue before. Also once home car had a very strong burnt oil smell. Have had the rocker covers checked last service and all were fine there. Chance that this could be caused by bad plugs or blocked fuel filter? Just wondering if I should replace the simple things before taking it to the shop. Any help greatly appreciated.

Yeah thought about changing the drums to discs but shes just a get to work mobile so they can stay for now. I have read on here that sedan rears wont fit but lucky for me the old STi was a hatch so guess thats a score for me.

Good evening guys, have a couple of simple questions....I have just brought a nana spec 97 HX hatch, will WRX shocks and springs fit straight in, I have a set in my shed from a 97 WRX and they have lowered springs and will V7 STI wheels bolt on?? My HX has drum brake rear so will this pose any problems with attempting these swaps?? Cheers for the help

RYAN315, is that the standard lip kit or an after market one? i\'m trying to track down a subtle lip kit for my wagon and that one looks pretty nice, being dumped on its ass helps too.....

These ones are very nice but the ones I have seen are more similar to the skirt that comes on the BE5/BH5 legacys, is a bit thicker than the STI ones in those pictures. Thanks heaps for the link will come in handy if I cant find anything in NZ, cheers.

Am thinking it maybe the wheel bearing, will be taking it into Wingers next week to get looked at. On another note does anyone know where to source the lip kit that I see on some BP5\'s around town. I have been told it is a standard tick the box issue one but cant seem to find anything on the net about it. Its just a very subtle lip kit but I think it makes the car look all the more stylish.

Hi all, I am the proud owner of a beautiful black BP5, amazing car to drive however it has developed a noise when driving. It is prominent at 60 to 80kph and sounds very similar to being in a propeller driven passenger plane, just the low drone when flying. The car doesn\'t drive any different and the sound is only audible on smooth roads, on rough bitumen the road noise will drown it out. Car is a manual and will do it in any gear, any revs as long as the speed is 60 km+. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem? Cheers
