  1. Thanks for your help guys. Got it removed this morning by Tiger Tint on Nga Mahi Road, very professional job. Now to get four new RE003s and it's time for a recheck!
  2. I thought that might have been the case. Would a professional tinter be the best person to take it off?
  3. Hi all, Just been to VTNZ for a WOF in my 2007 Legacy Spec B sedan and have been failed for the rear windows and windscreen being too dark. The tech doing the testing tested them to 4% tint. The tint is on the rear windows, rear quarter lights and rear window, and I thought it was factory. However, it is the first WOF I have taken it for. The tech told me its not factory and an overlay, which he apparently proved by taking a scraper to the tint in the corner of the window and removing some, which I was furious about. The tint looks extremely professional (IE not a DIY job) and I thought it was a factory tint, as I'm sure I've seen other Spec B's crusing around with dark rear windows. However, it is a really dark tint and when I bought the car I was surprised how dark it was. Can anyone with a Spec B of similar year shed some light on this? Would love to know if your rear windows are tinted, and if so how you fare in warrants.
  4. Nice looking car man, love that gold colour. Welcome.
  5. I got mine after extensive research. I was initially looking for a 2006 era WRX STi as I wanted the 6MT box but the pricing on even the higher KM models just wasn't worth it for me. Then I found out they did a simlar format in the Spec B with the 280hp EJ20 and a 6MT so I took a couple for a test drive and loved it. Ended up with a 2007 Legacy Spec B 2.0l turbo 6MT for considerably less money than an STi of the same year. Haven't looked back! I definitely like how understated the style is compared to the STi is too - always good giving your passengers a surprise when they realise how quick it is.
  6. I'll take a look this afternoon. Is it mainly just increased induction noise on the BL chassis as a benefit or are there small power gains too?
  7. Looks good - thanks for sharing! Any idea if they continued the snorkus into the BL/BP chassis?
  8. Looking at getting my Spec B tuned in the future and I'm looking at what mods to install prior to the tune to get the best bang for buck. I've heard you can make some pretty serious power with a few things like the Subtech DP, bigger TMIC and an intake system when paired with a good tune - does anyone have some advice on what track to go down? I don't want a FMIC as I'm trying to keep it looking relatively factory, and looking at spending the money to get good quality parts (Process West intercooler, etc). Not looking to get a particular HP number or anything - I'd basically like to make as much power as possible while keeping the motor resonably safe.
  9. Looking to get my 2007 Legacy Spec B (2.0, 6MT) tuned sometime in the future. Anyone know a reputable tuner who can work with the factory ECU in Christchurch?
  10. Fairly sure the engine is tuned differently for the 2.0l turbo too - GTB gets 280hp while the GT only gets 250 ish. Can anyone confirm?
  11. How much did they sting you for GST coming in to the country? Looks like about $1500 NZD shipped excluding tax for that setup which isn't too bad.
  12. Keen as to come along - unsure if I'll be at Flat Nats but will be a good excuse to get the Spec B out and meet some of yall.
  13. The BP on Sparks Road in Hoon Hay definitely has 98. I'm fairly sure the Fendalton BP on the corner of Memorial Ave and Clyde Road has it too. That's the only two I know of so far.
  14. I;m keen - just got the Spec B and it needs a good drive!
  15. Hi guys, I've recently picked up an 07 BL5 Legacy GT B Spec 6MT and have noticed the rear park/fog light on the bumper (like the one pictured below) is out. Anyone know how to replace it? I had a look under the bumper and in the boot but both seem to be blocked, and I'm hesitant to try to pop it out.
  16. The blue is bloody nice for sure. Ah I see, that must be that big black box on the front by the AC unit correct? What do you think of the car price wise - I was originally going to buy an STi but think these are a little bit better value for money.
  17. http://crowesport.co.nz/vehicle/2006-Subaru-Legacy/1725?s=1 This one here. Whats the secondary air pump?
  18. Link is broken - anyone have a mirror?
  19. Car is a 2.0l turbo and has done just over 100,000km, but apparently belt has been done. Anything in particular I should keep an eye on with these models?
  20. What about one of the petrol stations that do trailer hire? Can't be that expensive? Either that or go buy a single 4x2 from Bunnings/Mitre 10 and use their courtesy trailer....
  21. Haha pretty much. I think they're just as reliable as any other vehicle really. Just gotta follow the old saying, look after it and it'll look after you. Regular scheduled maintenance, regular checking of oil and coolant levels, etc. I think too many people buy into what is really a 10 - 20 year old peformance car, do no maintenance and then ***** about it when it breaks down after stomping the go pedal too hard and too often. Like people who complain about weak gearboxes - they're an AWD vehicle and the power they produce has to go to all four wheels. It's not like a FWD or RWD where you can easily break traction with enough power. Power to all four wheels dumped at 6k RPM is going to destroy something eventually. Somethings gotta give right? I figure as long as you do your maintenance and know the limitations of the vehicle you're driving you'll be golden 95% of the time.
