  1. Touched one of the intercooler hoses the other day and was shocked at how hot it was, so got a bit carried away heat wrapping today.
  2. Haha... Appreciate you taking the time. Couldn't open the PDF either and got tired of trying to access it via the GFB website. Just got back from a good thrash, thanks a lot for the advice. The car is back to running 21! I adjusted the duty to 70% did a run (leaving it in duty mode) and hit just over 18 psi. Saved this setting, did another run on 75% duty and hit 21psi. Still have the stock STI exhaust on (from WOF on Thurs) but didn't notice too much of a difference.
  3. Brilliant, thanks a lot for the manual. Appreciate it man. That's certainly a lot more comprehensive than the one I have. I'll play around this wkend (if it doesn't rain) and report back. Cheers
  4. Thanks for the info guys, appreciate it. slystiguy I agree, however mine just isn't doing what its meant to... I don't have an original manual, just a brief one I found online. Its does mention the duty cycle adjusts the boost level, however mine has the same settings but will not boost 21 no matter what I try... Fitted an HKS EVC 3 into my Type R and its so easy to use, wish I had gone this route rather than GFB in my RA... kwi_fozze Thanks, I'll give it a try this wkend. Adjusted the duty cycle, but returned to main menu once adjusted (no change) I can't understand why the first few settings still work, but nothing above 15.7 psi... All saved settings have same duty cycle, sensitivity & gain.
  5. Noticed identical front swaybar bushes on a Legacy while at Pickapart this wkend so pulled them off and bought the brackets / bushes for $9! Bushes are mint! AT least now I know what model to order (for next time...)! Got to love Pickapart! Picked up and installed an old HKS EVC 3 electronic boost controller and fitted it with the help of GC82GO. Running 12 instead of 7 psi now Yeah! My STI's
  6. They're not mine. Met a guy selling them. They were on trademe so have a look. I'll add an auction link if I come across them.
  7. Ordered front swaybar bushes from Subaru dealership yesterday after hassles dealing with Repco & Autolign, went to collect them today and guess what... Subaru got the wrong bushes too...! What a nightmare, may have to replace the entire subframe or machine my own at this rate...! Can't believe how difficult it is to replace OEM parts on a 99 STI Type R!
  8. Haha... Cheers kwi_fozze I'm just going to put the settings back to what they were (after tune setup - listed on page 2). Duty 75% Gain 30% Sensitivity 90% Hopefully this restores the 21.04 psi setting... So over these GFB controllers...!
  9. Thanks, really appreciate it I'll give it a try this weekend.
  10. Haven't driven the RA for a while so took it out over the weekend and noticed it wasn't boosting right... Looked at the controller and the 21.4 setting is now 0.1 For some reason its lost the last (higher) two settings so I can only run 15.6 max. I've downloaded a manual to read up on how to adjust the boost, but have no idea. Does anyone know how to adjust the boost?
  11. What a mission trying to get nolethane bushes...! Originally went to Repco and got annoyed with the guy after almost 20 mins of searching so decided to go to a "suspension specialist" (Autolign). Think I should have stuck with Repco as I've had to jack the car up, removed suspension components and make 4 trips back to Autolign to swap parts...! Very frustrating... They couldn't supply me with an OEM front swaybar nolethane bush so decided to go for aftermarket nolethane mounts too as I was ensured they would fit a GC8 - guess what... they don't (without having to bend them, which I'm not prepared to do as they should be a straight replacement part). Didn't like the idea of them anyway, so will be returning parts today (trip number 5)! OEM mount (background) compared to nolethane mount OEM has angled mounts, nolethane has flat... The reason I'm not prepared to use the nolethane mounts / bushes...! Has anyone used nolethane front swaybar bushes for OEM swaybar (19mm). If so, where did you get them? Thinking about going past Subaru later today to get factory parts.
  12. So it can be done. Excellent, thanks for confirming. Appreciate it. Great looking interior by the way, love the seat!
  13. Fitted the rear section of the 'highly controversial' Cusco bolt-in cage. Its noticeably stiffer, will be interesting to see how cert goes when I get around to it (wont be anytime soon - had to fit it to get it home from work today). I'm fairly confident the rear section will comply, just not sure about the front...
  14. Replaced my aluminium wishbone bushes. Used a small press at work and managed to find a couple of mower profiles which I used as supports (was a bit of a mission....). Gave it a good scrub too, was absolutely filthy! See before pic at the bottom. Before the clean...
  15. Haha... It has, wasn't prepared to reduce the price but would like to move onto the type R now.
  16. Nice car, its worth 14k. There's no way you can buy a Type R and modify it to that extent with the change (from 14k). Not many coupe's around in this condition. I say buy it. If not, I'd consider selling you mine for that sort of $... haha... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=756912182
  17. Keep getting told to get a G4... Don't really think its worth it, but will see when my mate gets his into his V3 STI RA. Turns out the heads I mentioned are not V3 STI nor do the have Kelford cams... They're actually V6 WRX with over sized valves plus race springs and retainers (Brian Crower), cams are after market Brian Crower Cams 272 deg. heads have only been fitted to motor never run. The port and polish was done by CNC machine and have been volume tested to ensure all are equal. I've decided not to take them, so still available. PM me if you're interested.
  18. Thanks for your responses so far. gotasuby The V3 heads are tempting, can get them for 2k or a deal with my moto-x bike but am uncertain on 272 degree cams. They may be a bit extreme from road use. Agree, I’m a huge fan of the EJ207 conversion. AVCS is fantastic, it’s just the wiring putting me off… I’ll pull the old engine out, fit the V7 one but wouldn't know where to start with wiring so was planning on dropping it off at Dtech again (they did an exceptional job on my last conversion) hope to get it tuned by them too.
  19. Hey guys, I bought a V7 STI AVCS engine over the weekend to put into my GC8 but I know it’s a bit of a mission to convert (loom, ecu etc...) so unsure if I'll continue with the conversion at this stage... Bought it as it was really, really cheap! I have two options: 1). Convert GC8 to suit V7 STI AVCS engine 2). Forge current V3 STI Engine (still running well, just oil leaks = Crank seal & rocker cover) I've been offered a set of V3 STI heads which have been CNC ported / polished, have new valves / springs and 272 degree Kelford Cams, so could sell the AVCS engine - forge the V3 motor & fit the heads. I’m looking for around 250 kw so not sure if it’s really worth rebuilding the V3 engine…? Currently running a Possum Link on V3 engine. Plan on running the car on the streets as well as the odd track day, so perhaps the 272’s are a bit extreme…? Any input appreciated. Cheers
  20. Picked up a V7 STI EJ207 and a HKS Hyper Dragger 3" exhaust to put into / onto the Type R.
  21. Really... CDM did my tune too... Not sure why he didn't go to Dtech, I suggested them but think he's heard good things about Lin. I spoke to workmate and he said Lin noticed a pipe leak - think its the Y-Pipe under intercooler, but a bit hard to pin point as he's not mechanically minded so not sure what / where it was... May explain the output.
  22. That's what I thought mate. Also has a TD04. Lin - CDM Tauranga tuned it. I told the guy to expect between 150 & 180, so he was a bit disappointed...
