Hi I have bought a 1995 Subaru Legacy with a EJ22E engine. This engine has over heated and i am going to replace the head gaskets. The engine still runs but when the engine is started it sounds like it is lacking compression, there is no oil in the water but there is a slight milky sludge in the radiator filler neck. When the radiator cap is taken off and the engine is started, there is a geyser of coolant coming from the radiator, the engine has no knocks or smoke and the oil pressure is ok. I was going to replace the engine but cannot seem to find another EJ22E engine for love nor money so have bought a top end rebuild kit. Are these engines a strong engine?, can i fit the gasket set (after checking heads/block for flat, machining etc) and call it done?. I need to get the vehicle down to Dunedin from Alexandra, is there anyone who i could borrow a car trailer or get it down by a truck back load for minimal cost or beer tokens?, i also have 4 tires and rims i need to get from Queenstown.
