Hi All,
I had a search for Pod filters on the forum but unless I missed the post it wasnt really what I was looking for,
I have bought a preloved 96 version 1 wrx gf8 wagon,
It has a front mount intercooler which has taken over where the factory airbox would originally be located so they have opted for a pod filter in its place.
Personally I dont like pod filters and from what I have heard they can cause some serious problems in Subaru's so I want to nip it in the butt while I can.
My problem is that the pod filter is doing nothing more than sucking in hot air, it looks tacky and it just doesnt look the part,
I had to add a shroud to it as the exhaust vents on the hood were directly above it letting it get wet on rainy days causing me some grief.
What im wanting to know is, are there any suggestions as to either
A. Relocate it somewhere colder at least
B. Make an airbox that will fit around the inter cooler piping and feed it with air from the guard as it would from factory
C. Is there an airbox that can be retrofitted assuming someone has had a similar problem
And any other suggestions would be appreciated, at this stage the budget is tight, option B isnt too big of a deal as a friend of mine is a plastic fabricator and says its dooable but a few things need done prior such as making or sourcing a harness extender for the maf sensor.
Thank you in advance, I have put some pictures below to give an idea of how it looks, please excuse the messy engine bay its a work in progress, in among the vast number of earth straps there is actually an engine in there.
