Reccomend me an akl Mechanic for Cambelt? 2015 Edition Thread
KingCole replied to eZ_Harry's topic in Auckland/Northland
+1 for Brad. -
Hi all, I am looking for the pin that lets me get into reverse for my OEM 6 speed shifter. My current one is slightly bent and I have to leave the pin out by a couple of mm for it to work at the moment. I am hoping that someone can provide me with some details about a shop/person who can sell me a genuine one. Cheers

Should I get a Pre-Purchase Inspection?

Oh good that you walked away from it too. I hope no one bought it. -

Yeap. Avoid that dealership at all costs. Forgot to mention that the boot was leaking and full of water and the radiator etc was bent from the front. -

I got my pre-purchase mechanical inspection done by Vehicle Inspection Services and they drive out to inspect the car. I am glad I did though otherwise would have bought a lemon. The first inspection was for a WRX STI 2002 (V8) from Great Motors and they had claimed the car had never been in an accident and was in great mechanical etc but when inspected it was in a frontal crash and they had tried to hide it well by doing the work themselves. The inspector was able to pick it up though and stopped the inspection right there (he did not even drive the car as there was no point) and only charged me for the time he was there instead of the full inspection price. I used the same guy for my second inspection for another V8 STI and it came out great which led me to buying it the next day. It's nearly been a year with the car and haven't had a SINGLE problem but then again the car had been maintained very well with proof of service etc. He sends you a soft/hard copy of the report too. In my opinion, it's always good to get the car inspected because it could save you money in the long run. Good luck with the purchase! -
silicone intakes... YES/NO? what brand should i get?
KingCole replied to hunter951's topic in General Vehicle Discussion
Kinugawa sells one for VF30 so that's an option but I have had no experience how they perform so maybe one of the other members can chime in on that. -

If it is stock turbo, you wont be able to hold anything above 17psi up top unless you upgrade the actuator.. -

I am running 23 psi on the stock v8 STI inlet without issues. Also I know so many people running that kind of boost levels for years on the stock inlet without any issues. I wouldn't underestimate them. -
GCP's dyno is inflated as my mate got his V7 tuned a while ago and put down ~220kw on GCP's dyno and goes for a dyno day on another dyno and gets ~190kw in same sort of conditions.. You guys are right about people trying to make their own cut on Link ECUs...Possum Bourne wanted me to get a Link ECU for my stock turbo and intake a year ago LOL...I think E H motors or Raijin would be good options but E H charge $1200 a tune.. Hey Kris, do you have a custom built Blouch 3071? I have heard that the Blouch 3071 and 3076 turbos are crazy in spool and power

Thats a really nice result for that price! I might just do that when it comes to my upgrade as I think 840cc would do the job. What made you go down the ej257 route over ej207?? [quote name='johnny5 said: Intersted to see the results dude nice plan you have there Yeah man, I have seen a few guys on nasioc running 1.5XTR on their ej207s on e85 hitting 300kw at the wheels.- 16 replies

I believe Al is running the 2.5XTR with 10% meth on his built 2.35L and he made over 300kw without really pushing it. I saw a few STX67/71 results on nasioc but there are mixed reviews, some people think they are laggy and dont really produce much power of the 20Gs. I am thinking of beginning the next stage of modding sometime next year. Also some of the supporting mods, I think injectors (might decap stock ones though as Brad was saying they flow quite a bit and is only a couple of hundred bucks cost), HDi FMIC, a heavy duty (and street friendly) clutch since mine is on its way out due to constant launches. Wbu? What are you running?- 16 replies

I see, Yeap the AVCS and ported heads will help spool. I was thinking of 25 psi by 4300 which would be really good for power level of 270kw+. I was also looking at Blouch 1.5Xtr with 10cm^2 t/s housing and that should easily satisfy the spool and power but that is bloody expensive. Haha yeah 221kw seems slow for me now since I drive the car daily and abuse it.- 16 replies

Oh I see, no worries. As far as I know, td06 20G are known to be a bit laggy so might have to see if there is another option that has better response and top end.- 16 replies

Hi all, I have a Mongoose m80G alarm in my STI v8 and the siren has stopped chirping when locking/unlocking and makes no sound when the alarm goes off. The lights still flash and the car still get immobilized but the siren just doesn't work. I have tried all remote button combinations found here but no luck. I have even tried turn off and turn on the siren using the siren key but still no luck. Would really appreciate if someone could help me out here. Cheers
