  1. Sorry to hear that mate, will keep my eyes on that. Do you have any pics of the car so we can easily spot it then
  2. Thanks, will add this to my to do list, also take out the steering wheel . Still confuse about the fuel left in tank, some say that it should fill up the tank to prevent rusting up inside the tank, some said I should leave it empty? Also my next service will be due soon but I'm wondering whether I should change the oil + filter before vacation or after it?
  3. I'm thinking about keeping the battery in the car, as Marky said, just 2 months so not a big deal, bought aa membership and I think I should use 1 callout for the jump start. I park in the area with no power supply nearby so trickle charger isn't an option unfortunately. Going oversea for my mate's wedding so most of my friends will be there and no one can fire her up during that time. First time leave her alone for more than a month without anyone take care of it so just a bit overly worried I think. Anw, thanks for your inputs guys
  4. Hi, I'm going to go oversea for about 1.5 - 2 months and I have to leave my suby back here. So I'm wondering you guys have any tips/suggestion or experienced with this before, let me know. So far I got a few suggestions: - Don't use handbrake. - Remove and keep battery in warm place - Top up the fuel Someone said I should jam the clutch but I'm not really sure about that.
  5. Possible I think, my turbo timer can go up to 9 mins and 50 secs. But if you left the car under sun light for 10 mins without running, I don't think the A/C can keep the interior cool in some really hot day. Tbh, my advice would be leave your dog at home, it's not worth it. If you really want to bring the dog, you may want to invest some more gears like heat shield, cooling mat for dog, battery power fan, keep your window down + leave some note for other people while away, etc
  6. Have one manual BC here, free but you pay the shipping cost. Look the same with this one http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/performance/turbos/auction-974259378.htm Still work, upgraded so have it laying around then.
  7. Yeah, which breed of horse is that? Male or female? How height is the shoes statue in the pics?
  8. My turbo f**ked up, looking to replace it soon. Which turbo can I get for the V8 WRX? Did some research, the stock one should be TD04L-13T but the VF30 and VF34 also do the job aye. Search around people only list as TD04, is there any real difference between TD04 turbo line? Trying to get the VF30 but seems my budget running low atm, haha.
  9. Well, after installed the bov, i just run at idle, rev to about 2 ~ 2.5k max so hopefully it not damage anything. As for the coolant, I did a check today before and after driving to work, seems like it normal now, stay at the same line I topped up last night. No sign of coolant near radiator cap or anywhere in the engine bay. Also did a few checks for head gasket, oil color normal, no bubble in radiator while the engine is running at warm, she runs fine, no overheat and accelerator still strong. no sign of exhaust leaking this morning so hopefully the head gasket is still good but will have my eyes to check if anything wrong and will bring her to my mechanic. For the BOV tune, did some research a while ago and they told that it can be tune to fool the engine that the air is not recirculate back, but maybe BOV sound is not worth to all the mess. Lesson learned, will stay away from the BOV, maybe get the 50/50 valve if I'm bored Anyway, thanks guys for all your inputs
  10. I'm using the aftermarket radiator cap and it seems no leaking until now. Bought some coolant and top up, it was fine until I tried to put the HKS BOV to test for leaking again. After installed the HKS BOV, found out that the valve open while idle that cause leaking. Manual tested the valve yesterday and it hold boost quite good so not sure if it the bov leaking or the car still set up for bpv and as I know the bpv will open while idle. Will put it back when do the ecu reflash and tune for BOV to see if the problem still there. After fire her up to test the bov, the coolant drop from full to low line in the expansion tank (only top up before install bov so probably it doesn't like the bov), will top up again tomorrow and see if this still happen or not. Anybody have an idea while it burn out all the coolant? Only idle for 5 mins. Seems to have leak in exhaust as well, just water so hopefully it because of cold start, if it still leaking tomorrow, will bring her to health check.
  11. Hey guys, just smell something like burnt somewhere after got home, I checked but nothing wrong, engine oil temp and water temp both good, oil level good, no leaking underneath. Normal drive, just have to stop emergency as a dumbass try to get into my lane when I going down hill at about 30 - 40 kmh (he was stop at red light traffic before get into my lane). Only thing I noticed is that the coolant level is quite low in the expansion tank (about 1/2 between empty and low level). Coolant level under radiator cap seems ok. After few hours, I check it again while the engine is cold and the coolant level is pretty much the same as before, 1/2 between empty and love level. I just topped up the coolant 1 month ago and pretty sure that it get to full line on the tank. No sign of visual leak, is it normal or I should buy some coolant to top up again?
  12. Using 215/45/17 will get the inaccuracy speedo imo
  13. For the size you must check your wheel to get the right size. What is your wheels specs? With 205/50/17 I think your wheel is 17x7 aye. If it is 17x7 you can get 225/45/17 for wider tire but it is a bit too width for your rims. Otherwise just get a set of 205/50/17 For the tire brand you can check this thread here, quite a lot info depend on your budget and purpose http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/showthread.php?46252-Poll-Tyres-2015-What-are-you-running Personally I run bridgestones RE003, good grip for spirit driving, low noise
  14. Thanks guys, one more thing come up on my shopping list
  15. Thanks mate, so when I sell the car, I need to pay $300 for the standard plate aye?
  16. Thinking about getting the personal plates. Wondering that after I got the new plate, what happen with my current plate? Is it compulsory to send it back to govt or I can keep it? If that's legal, I want to keep it and put it back on when I sell the car so the personal plate will come with me to the next car then
  17. Mine is WRX 2004 as well, previous ran royal purple XPR, now runs Motul 8100, both 10W40, seems good until now. Oil filter is subaru oem
  18. Got new shoes for her, refurbish the rims is on the to-do-list now Then installed some interior leds, took half a day to secure the led + wiring, looks not too bad
  19. Yeah it a HKS SSQV 4 BOV but I don't think it's a adjustable one. As I know, the HKS BOV v1 is adjustable but they make it non-adjustable from v2. Moved to Auckland CBD with no garage so sold all my tools. Probably I'll ask my mate to test it sometime this week.
  20. Can't do it as it was more than a year ago, bought it around August last year man so it ran out of warranty now. Will try to contact them to see if they can fix it or not
  21. Got it from redline performance more than a year ago so it seems genuine. I replaced the bov first to see if the leak from the bov or the turbo, after that it ran smooth so don't have time to check the leaking on bov yet. No idea about this stuff so how can I check where the leaking coming from? Symptom was the pssssh sound when the rev go higher than 2.5k (my leg still on the pedal), the turbo still working but not as fast as usual, no leaking at idle
  22. My HKS SSQV BOV was leaking so I just replaced the stock bov. Is it possible to fix the leaking for HKS BOV? If yes, can I DIY or how much to get it fix? And yes I know the stock bov is good enough but sometimes miss the sound so just wondering if I can still fix it or I should get the new one as the fixing cost is not worth it.
  23. Just read through, my 2c. U listed too many mods without saying how you feel when driving it, make the reader quite lazy to read all of them. I suggest you should write how awesome is the car, how you care about it, the driving feeling, few main mods, then when they come to see it, you can list all the mods later. Brand new engine definitely raise people's interest, i not in the market for your car so I don't know but just list the price you think it is fair (not too high, not too low). May take a while to sell your car imo
  24. Have AVS on mine, seems to run well until now. I do check the tracking every few days and it quite accurate. The main reason to get it is that I can get lower stolen excess from insurance (i got $0 excess in case of stolen).
