  1. Take it slow the first couple of times and really learn the track. Grass can be very slippery, but over the day it will dry out. Learn the scandy flick, and learn to slide the car under heavy braking, it will improve your times if you can flick it around the corners quicker.
  2. Looks like a helmet many people in my club use, I'd say it'd be fine for clubsport. On that note, I purchased my new helmet from Palmside a few weeks back, Great guys to deal with
  3. Hehe, that and I recognised the purple box below it!
  4. All good, I learnt a heck of a lot playing with that car and also got addicted to the boost It's hard not to want to drive it! In this case, with the TD05 being a bigger turbo, the Z4 calls for more boost, and sooner. Giving it the additional fuel that is needed with that. So with the VF8 it may run quite rich, and just not as smooth as you'd expect. I'll organise the stock ECU to be shipped up early next week
  5. You'll be best to run the original ECU (I'm yet to post this) as the Z4 runs a different boost map and fuel map, so it'll run, just not as well as it does now.
  6. Yup, oil pressure sensor. Had one on my RA (now @SpeedySub's, you should see it under the alternator) It's definitely after-market, and most likely for a Oil pressure gauge that would have once been in there.
  7. Yeah the Autox/Gymkana should be fine without the license or extinguisher. Great fun as well!
  8. Yeah just go along and have a chat/enter an event or two. For club basic events, I believe you can do two events without a membership, so autoXs etc, enter a couple, see if you enjoy it then decide if you want to put money into it. If you're wanting to enter club advanced events, I believe that's when you'll need a Motorsports license and a fire extinguisher. But one step at a time motorsports license requires you to be a club member already, so take that step first obviously. If you're wanting to go down that route, there's tonnes of information on the motorsports NZ website, and you can create an account here to record your club membership and/or apply for the licenses, it also lists upcoming events etc, also has a load of resources that are quite helpful. http://possum.motorsport.org.nz
  9. Personally, go along to each of their events and see what you prefer. Once you've joined an MSNZ club, you can go to any other club's events, but just can't get points in their seasons without being a member, (unless it's an inter-club event). So find a club with the most events you'd enter and joint there first. Then if you enjoy another one as well, get a membership to both. Personally I'm a member of Otago Sports Car Club, but considering joining Eastern Southland as well.
  10. Yeah there were 57 cars I believe in the end. Results here: http://www.escc.co.nz/uploads/6/4/0/4/64040323/mills_autocross_12th_nov_2016_final.pdf I placed around mid-pack so I'm happy with that. A couple of videos one of the guys caught of the track/cars: A friend's Rally car going around: Phil's Evo, and my legacy patiently waiting behind
  11. I've been interesting in getting exactly one of these 3.0s as a tow car for a club car and have seen a lot with this high KMs, so I also wonder have the fare that that high...
  12. Same here on my old BC5 RA, around 360ish KM to a full tank around town. and nearer 400 on the open road.

    re vin

Yes all rally cars are required to be road legal with a registration and WOF for the touring stages. Has anybody here done a re-vin? I have a legacy I'm planning on doing that to, so keen in more information as required....
  14. Was awesome dealing with you too @SpeedySub Very sad to see the car go though Although it did sound awesome going down the street, the first time I've heard someone else drive it from the outside haha.
  15. Yay! this is very good news! http://www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/86321642/government-gives-thumbs-up-to-110kmh-speed-limit-on-some-roads

George King Memorial Road is a new hill climb to the OSCC. This steep and narrow road winds its way up from the gorge bridge at the bottom and plateaus towards the Hindon end, about 1.75km up the hill. Tight for parking with pits quite likely being at the top of the hill (finish).
