  1. Best to find on Trademe or go Pickapart and get them off yourself. Trademe Link
  2. Thanks for the quick reply. I forgot to mention that I am putting Bridgestone Re003 onto these wheels. Has anyone else put 18 in a 45profile with any success on the forum?
  3. Hi all I did a search but couldn’t find the information I needed. I have a Legacy BD5 RSB and I would like to know if 18x7.5 wheels with 215/45/18 tyres will fit and have no issues with scrubbing. I will still run the stock suspension and stock rise height.
  4. Hi All, Just an update. The short block is installed, and I am currently running it in. Also it was cylinder 3 that had the headgasket leaked. IMG_4220 by Bobby Lowe, on Flickr IMG_4223 by Bobby Lowe, on Flickr
  5. Hi All, Just a quick update, almost everything has been put back together. We are just trying to source a plug for the EJ207 Short block oil breather pipe. Apparently this oil breather line would connect to the intake manifold. However the Legacy RSB does not have this. One question a split fuel rail system would this work on my 96 Legacy RSB? I was thinking of purchasing this: https://www.nzkw.com/fuel-rails-c-104_81_160/nzkw-fuel-rail-line-kit-for-subaru-gc8-v3v4-p-1293.html?zenid=3ujduekjag7g0blrrc065e6av2 Any advice? I will put pictures up soon.
  6. Bad news from Drury Auto Services today. The ej20r block is warped. So now I am not sure what to do. I took down a brand new EJ207 short block I purchased in January, and we are checking to see if it will fit? Any advice?
  7. I actually have a 96 BD5 RSB with the ej20r motor in it. The engine has 255000km on it. The turbos are definitely labelled vf18 and vf19. The car just suddenly overheated at the back of Carbine road in Mt Wellington about 1year ago. Apparently it was a split hose somewhere, but it did enough damage to the head gasket on cylinder 3 on the exhaust valve side. I didn’t fix the car at the time as I saw a black S401 come up for sale on trademe and went and brought it. I originally wanted to single turbo the car, so I have all the components, like a rebuilt greddy td06 20g, fmic, exhaust manifold, twisted turbo pipes and ej207 short block. But paying a workshop to do the install is quite expensive, about 9k and over which does include a link ecu and tune. The car itself is a beater and cost me 1400.00 originally so I lost the desire to spend so much on. Anyway skip 1year later and I have taken it to our local mechanic Drury Auto Services, to give it a birthday and fix the head gasket. The engine is out now, and the heads are machined, new steel head gasket, the new vf27 turbo replacing the vf19 turbo, the eBay twin turbo silicone intake, radiator being checked over, new thermostat and a Mines ECU. I have got a 240km/h instrument cluster, 18inch Legacy sti wheels and window tints to finish it off. It will just be a run about car for my parents business and family. in the meantime I purchased a second hand closed deck block only from e&h and I am going to rebuild it into a short deck block by myself as a learning exercise. I am a novice so it will be interesting rebuilding an engine myself as I have always paid workshops to do it. I am looking for the right GC8 Type R car to eventually put one of the motors in.
  8. Thanks for that pl0x, but the car is almost finished so maybe next time.
  9. Thanks for the advice. I will probably leave the primary turbo for now, but if it does fail later on then I will definitely upgrade the core.
  10. My stock combination right now is vf18/19 I just wanted to know if vf18/27 would work okay and maybe be an improvement? ideally I wanted a vf26/27 but I cannot find a vf26
  11. Hi All, Firstly TT Legacy's are a pain in the arse. Secondly I cannot find a VF26 in Auckland. I only have a VF27, so I would like to know if I could replace my VF19 with the VF27? Will the VF27 work with a VF18? I was going to do a single turbo conversion - but to be honest most workshops were asking for 7k upwards - not including a Link ECU. This made it uneconomical.
  12. Hi All Sorry for the late reply. I eventually sourced the bleeder screw from Winger Subaru. It took 10days to come from Japan. Bleeder Screw Part no: 26238FE001 - $18.00 excl GST Bleeder Cap Part no: 26241FE000 - $9.00 excl GST
  13. Hi All I am replacing my EJ20R short block in my 1996 Legacy RSB because it overheated quite substantially. We currently believe the engine needs a new headgasket maybe more. I have also placed an order at Winger Subaru for a EJ207 Short block kit (10103AB470K) however it is most likely the V8/9 STI one as I was informed that they weren't sure if they could source a V7 STI EJ207 Short block. I will chase them up to get a definitive answer. I am still hoping that I can get a V7 EJ207 short Block. I know that the pistons are different between V7 and V8,Will the hypereuthectic pistons be reliable and suitable for my application below? I am personally only going to keep it as a street car.
  14. Hi All My mechanic was bleeding the brakes and somehow snapped the bleed valve. Where can I purchase 1?
  15. Hi All Merry Christmas and Happy new years in advance. Just a quick question can I install a Zero Sports Sequential controller (ZSSC) and an Apexi AVCR together? I do know that the ZSSC can control boost as well. For the experts out there would there be any potential clashes?
  16. Thanks for the help guys. I got too enthusiastic on trademe. I am most likely going to upgrade the wheels to 18x7.5 - 5x100 I really want the 18inch wheels from a Legacy S401 or a BP Tuned by STI set. So I will be keeping an eye out for those.
  17. Hi All I have been reading through the forums, and I think I have made a mistake. I purchased the 4 Pot Calipers (Subaru - not Brembos) before reading the forums. From what I have read they will not fit the early year 96 - 98 . solid 5 spoke subaru OEM wheels. I just need further confirmation before I consider what to do next. Link to Photos
  18. I currently have no mods on the car, except for the line #1 boost restrictor pill. I am the car's fifth owner and I received the car in poor mechanical condition. It has recently had a lot of maintenance work done to it. Such as Cambelts, waterpumps, all filters, service, all new rotors/pads, new clutch and a full groom. The interior was very feral, now its been updated with new parts and clean trim. The body is in very poor condition however, I was looking at an exhaust but I decided to keep my stock muffler. Apparently my stock muffler has a valve on it to manage back pressure to assist the turbo spooling up better. I will freely post the before and after results once I get it .
  19. I had a few import agents looking for it in Japan, and I had been on a lot of auction sites. However I was very lucky and found it in a BG5 Legacy at Pick a Part Avondale in Auckland. I originally saw it 2 weeks earlier and thought it was a crappy turbo timer. Here are the photos of the unit, the BG5 harness and the ecu it came off. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B3SvNIEJMAKCSHM0N1J5Rmt0cGs I also purchased a MINES ECU from a auction site: buyee.jp I will be doing a stock dyno assessment at PBMS first. Then I will be installing the MINES ECU and doing another dyno assessment at PBMS. Its just precautionary to see if there are any improvements or if the Legacy is leaning out etc. According to MINES they have people running these ECU on 98RON fuel without problems. This is the information on the ECU from MINES: This VX-ROM is for a Middle version (as in early middle late) Manual Transmission BG5 Ej20T Fuel Mapping and ignition timing optimized Speed limiter removed Boost set at 1.0kg/cm2 Rev limit expanded +300 For use with the normal type air cleaner Designed for use with 100 ron octane rated fuel. Thank you MINE'S
  20. Hi All, I recently acquired a Zero Sports Sequential Controller. I would like to know if there are any workshops or recommended individuals who are able to install this? Obviously I am willing to pay. I have the official Zero Sports BG5 harness as well. Thanks
  21. Thanks for the advice. I will probably give it a miss for now. Cheers.
  22. Hi All I am new on the forums and I have a 1996 Legacy RSB - EJ20R BG5 or BD5 not sure. I am curious if any other members with a similar vehicle have tried this? A Zero sports lightweight crank pulley or the Grimmspeed version. http://www.zerosports.co.jp/Product/741/1137017 Pros and Cons would be great. Also I have run a search on the forum and couldn't find anything about this.
