I'm cool enough... more concerned about the engine

What are the 300kw and over cars running for cooling?

Hahaha ! You jealous prick because you have a high centre of gravity and can't corner fast without risking to rollover
I am a bit jealous I must admit... if I had a BRZ I would have the perfect excuse for posting bad times at hillclimbs

EJ engine vs FA engine?
Maybe with the new engine design they have minimised or eliminated the issue?
It will be a better sump/baffle design. Or the fact that the BRZ has no power and can't get up enough speed for high Gs

why has nobody mentioned fuel starvation too?
Probably because you can feel it and fix it long before it's fatal by going to the petrol station.

It's not a circuit car or rally car in standard form... the sump is fine for road racing.

Oh, just leave the usual bolts in there and tighten them up... maybe set them both on min or max if you want? The top hat should give all the adjustment you need.
-
Thinner camber bolts can stretch and break... they are very weak compared to the standard bolts because they are so thin.
If you can't get adjustable top hats you could go to pick a part and get some eccentric bolts from the bottom hole and grind
out the top hole of the strut and knuckle.

+1. Sell the 19s... get some factory wheels and save for some decent tyres.

ps choice as a control tyre is no guaranteed indicator of good performance, way back in the early days of the nz production car championship they chose the awful goodyear gs-d3 as a control tyre. it was gone next season.
Worst tyre I have ever had on a WRX by far... like driving around on rounds of wood.
And R888s were good for the money... but now with the new model and greatly elevated prices you are much better off with Dunlops.

Spinning out onto the grass isn't guaranteed to be safe anyway... what if the ground is very wet and a wheel digs in and the car goes into a barrel roll?

That's a pretty sweeping blanket statement that might get someone in trouble. My nexen sur4g have incredible grip, street legal 200tw tire that the rx7 Pro series use as a control tire and rate as fast as an r888, toyo....
Clubsub seem quite elitist on the Chinese tire hate
Sent from my Redmi 3 using Tapatalk
That's an extreme example though right?
Generally speaking most of Nexen tyres on the road in NZ will be the very cheap and not great for the track variety.

Yeah I know what use mean I am to nervous of the insainly large curbs at autox though if I spin it'll be a rim, arms and possibly suspension ha ha.
If I spin on the track hopefully I just end up in the grass. I'm not necessarily wanting to try slide it just as you mentioned know what's the limits for the car. But being new to track I doubt I will even reach those limits ha ha .
I am getting super excited
The autox I linked is on grass and it's totally safe to spin or the slide the car as much as you like.

I am wanting to run street tyres for this reason. If it does slide I would like to know how to handle it
An autox is better for that.

2cents, Subys that I've seen have engine issues on track are usually 'ambitiously' modified/maintained and driven very hard as one would drive an N/A honda (right up near the redline all the time). Generally the standard or mildly modified ones in good nick can cruise around all day no problem.
Driven hard sure, but any car can have oiling issues. It doesn't matter how well it was built or how well it is maintained. Even dry sumped motors can run into trouble.

@Gripless All of you guys wanting to push your cars really hard should get rid of the recirculating breather system anyway.

Hmm that's kind of surprising to me. I know there's some margin for overfilling by design but I would expect the margin to be closer to 1/4 litre than 1/2 litre.
AFAIK the main risk is that the oil can get aerated and turn into foam which doesn't lubricate properly.
Only time I've seen someone with overfilled oil at a track day had smoke come out of the engine bay and we discovered that there was oil all over the place in the engine bay. The oil probably came out of the breather. I reckon he had something like 1/2 litre above full but it was an 86 (Subaru FA20 engine), might be different with older models.
EDIT : Oh and he had smoke come out of the exhaust as well, this what I noticed first
And do you guys drain the extra oil after the track day or leave it like that ?
Might be bad in the long term, just saying.
Yes if you really over fill the sump the crank will be picking the oil up and chucking it everything. 1/2 litre appears to be fine though.
If you want to understand why the oil spews out of the heads in a big corner watch this.

Put a turbo and turbo extractors on it but don't plumb anything up turbo wise except the exhaust and oil/coolant lines. Run the N/A as per normal just reroute intake pipe.
Boom!
Do it be Brave
It'll over speed the turbo... you'd need to put a reducer on the turbo output to provide some resistance... or do you mean plumb the output of the turbo into the throttle without an intercooler? Would work with E85.

Thanks @pedro... so they are not in NZ I take it?

Anyone used these guys? http://www.partzonline.co.nz/
I need some new ignition leads... seems like it should be a simple drive over to Subaru parts, Repco, BNT or Supercheap... but it's not

They just drone and sound bad. Raspy would be okay.

Cheers for the reply! I haven't raced on this track before, is Higgins corner the one coming onto the straight?
It's the RIGHT hander onto the back straight. You can be pulling lots of Gs for what feels like a long time and with a
lot of throttle and high revs... try not to do that Killed my motor even with a good sump as lot's of oil poured
out of the head breather into the catch can.

I know a bit about his setup and am considering a seperate water cooling system for the turbo as well... just wondering what length others have had to go to.
A TMIC means you get more air on the radiator which probably helps a lot.
