  1. Cheers, I'll go back downstairs and finish the job then
  2. Hey folks, haven't been here in a loong time! Kinda forgot about it for a while tbh. Anyways, just got home and noticed repco gave me a Ryco Z79X whereas the current filter (and the other old ones in the corner that I really should tidy up) are Z495. Is it just a newer/alternate compatible version, or a wrong one? Bummer when you finally get motivated to go into your freezing cold garage and then have the wrong part!
  3. So far sompared to RE001 I'd say quieter, a bit more consistent and sticky on seal wet/dry but maybe not quite as much feel on wet seal, not as much bite on gravel but still ok.
  4. Went for the RE002, they seem good so far. Cheers for the suggestions.
  5. Ah should have mentioned that! 215/45R17 And not interested in semi-slicks in case anyone is wanting to suggest those, I'm after an all-round road tyre. RE002 are sounding the best option so far unless I find some old stock RE001 going cheap.
  6. Any experience of how the 912 feels for sidewall strength? That was the key thing I hated about the T1R.
  7. So I need to replace a couple of my RE001's, fronts have chewed a nasty mess out of inside shoulder. Been a while since I needed new tyres, so thought I'd see what's popular on here at the moment. RE002 are probably the obvious choice to replace RE001, how do they compare? Also considering something a bit harder wearing, maybe Falken 912 - what else should I consider? For reference I've been pretty happy with the performance of the 001s, found them much better than T1R and GSD3 I had before them especially for sidewall strength etc and gravel performance being a factor as well. They don't last that long though (I probably get ~20k from them) so thinking about harder wearing options too, feel is more important than absolute grip.
  8. Had similar thing on my BH5 which turned out to be a sad MAP sensor.
  9. Poor car looks a bit sad... bet it would rather be out rallying like Mr Subaru intended.
  10. Was just thinking the top-mounted oil filter will be nice easy access!
  11. More likely it will have column-mounted electric PAS like the BRZ/GT86?
  12. First step I would give it an oil change with nice fresh full synthetic and see if its still there after that.
  13. Put 42,000km on my '02 GTB over the last 3 years, the only thing thats gone wrong was a MAP sensor which I replaced 2nd hand for $40.
  14. Usually in the general ballpark of 9L/100km (bit better or bit worse depending on 95/98 and type of roads) on the open road in my '02 GTB, would be over 700/tank if I ran it close to empty, 12L left when the fuel light comes on.
  15. Chronic headgasket problems and general unreliability? Haha thats a crackup!
  16. Looks like a US model too, LHD and everything. Those stats from AA insurance have always been pretty useless, I suspect the reason the Silvia is off the list is because they aren't insuring many anymore.
  17. 33/32 combo was Rev-D so I wouldn't expect it on a 2000. I've heard of a 31/32 combo as well but I'm not sure when that was used.
  18. 4 door convertibles pretty much always manage to look totally wrong
  19. I like to stick with full synthetic in turbo cars, handles the heat etc better and so on. Edge 5w30 gave a bit more turbo noise in my '02 GTB so I use Valvoline 5w40 instead now.
  20. Mine is NZ-new and still has speed cut - though its a bit oddball in that it seems to be Jap-spec despite being NZ-new. Factory BH5 GTB held the official word record for a production wagon at 270km/h in '98 so delimited they can obviously get up there.
  21. Quoting from info on another thread: "all MY93 engines were closed deck, MY94 manual WRX, RA and STI models got closed deck and MY95 STI and RASTI got closed deck blocks." IIRC the 1st-gen Legacy RS was closed deck too.
  22. ;D Whatever happened to that guy with the Spec-C who was rabbiting on about which semi-slicks to buy for his first ever track day (where he was going to beat everybody) and then complaining how he couldn't afford the fuel to go anywhere?
  23. I average around 9L/100k on the open road (generally with plenty of hills, corners and overtaking) and probably 11+ around town (short trips, cold starts). Its generally around 10% thirstier on 95 as well as being slower, less responsive and not as smooth - much happier all round on 98 but you still can't get it south of Dunedin. 2002 BH5 (Rev-D) GTB manual btw.
  24. Don't think so - the VF32 was actually the secondary turbo of its pairings, you'd probably be wanting a 31 or a 33 instead. (I think the 26 is a primary?)
  25. From memory factory offset is 53-55, someone else may be able to confirm or correct though.
