  1. Been a while since someone posted on this sooo i'll give it a wee bump even though car photography is not a strong point for me
  2. Ah right. So is this any indication or a bad solenoid, or bad connection, maybe solenoid needs cleaning? Come to think about it, I was in fourth gear and just planted it.
  3. Long story short: driving home from a 3 hour drive, driving up hill on a motorway, wound up some boost and the car surged forward awkwardly, slowed up and went into limp mode (TC off light, check engine light, SI drive light flashing etc) cleared the lights with 5 stop starts. Car has been driving fine, but I quickly and luckily got my car scanned 5 mins later. These codes came up: Engine Control System: 1: P0244: Turbocharger waste gate solenoid a range/performance(High Input) DTC Brake control system 1: C0057 VDC control interruption because of engine instructions 2: C0047 Improper CAN communication Obviously I need to check and properly diagnose something to avoid P0244 again, but what exactly? im guessing the brake control system codes are the ECU’s reaction to the first code?
  4. Have just ordered me an OBD2. Will give them a look once it arrives.
  5. My forester noticeably jerks when letting off the accelerator and when going back on, even when doing it extremely delicately. Coming off throttle, there's a short second then you feel like a surge / jerk. When applying throttle, it sort of jerks a bit heading back up the revs (rev gauge and move back and forward). Much more noticeable at lower speeds but still does it through the gears at higher speeds. Sometimes second gear, having a tiny but constant amount of throttle applies, the car will jerk back and forward kinda violently while sitting over 2k rpm. This was worse before I got it tuned, but it's still quite persistent. Reading up about could be a million things.. I've recently had spark plugs changed and the car scanned, which pulled no fault codes. It's not a biggy, just makes driving slightly unenjoyable.
  6. Can vouch for the S-GT being easy to insure, owned one at 22 and it was basically no questions Lowering springs on it made a world of difference. Factory suspension is more 'i want to carry the kids around in comfort but also have 250hp' soft and floaty.
  7. I'd say the WRX is a much more 'raw' driving experience. It depends if you value extra's like safety, sophistication, brakes etc. as outlined above. I owned an S-GT a couple years back and they're still super fun wee cars that are just definitely held back by the crappy factory tune - so highly recommend getting it tuned properly if you end up buying one. Also probably need to outline that the V6 will likely be going up in value too.
  8. Yup, sure is Apet. Nik is a super friendly, easy to deal with person.
  9. Agree with checking the condition of the belt. If it goes on you halfway through your trip, your engine = scrap, then you have an ever bigger cost on your hands.
  10. Got a tune on the Forester today (bone stock) 133.8kw > 162.5kw A nice increase in torque Car feels completely different 😁
  11. Booked the Forester in for a Dyno tune. Will be interesting to see what I get out of a completely stock car.
  12. Probably a dumb question Understandably SI drive controls throttle / throttle responsiveness levels. I've noticed that in I (intelligent) mode, I get a maximum of about 10psi boost under hard throttle. Sports and Sports# modes both spike 16 then hold at 14psi.
  13. Hey all, Usually this would be a breeze with tracking the correct spark plugs for a Subaru.. but not to much the case with my Forester. It's a 2007 Subaru Forester SH5 2.0 XT, manual. It's registered as 2007 but technically a 2008+ model which seems to hiccup a few sites. The NGK, Repco & Supercheap sites haven't been much help, bar the Repco if I put my vehicle in as 2007, there's an EJ20 DOHC 16v Turbo to be selected but i'm not sure if this is pulling SG Forester parts. For all I know, they could use the same plug? it pulled an NGK PFR6B Anyway, trying to track some NGK iridiums. 2007 Subaru Forester XT EJ20-COVERED SH5-002222 Just being cautious before i accidentally blow money on the incorrect plug. Any help appreciated
  14. Hmm yeah I'm definitely not about that super loud life. The AdrenalinR route seems a bit tricky to make up the parts, just from a 2 minute glance on their website anyway..
  15. Oh hell, I didn't expect them to be super loud! A bit of noise is fine but over the top? nah Aight I'll have a look into making one up with Adrenalin-R
  16. I'm looking at getting a catback exhaust for my SH5 XT. Just want a bit more of that Subaru rumble to enjoy plus any small performance benefits that may come along with it. Redline performance offer a pretty easy purchase with the XFORCE variant here https://www.redlineperformance.co.nz/product/xforce-subaru-forester-xt-exhaust-kit-2009-12-wrx-grf-sedan/ Is this of pretty reasonable value for a catback exhaust system? Or am I better off getting something custom made which could possibly save money & be of higher quality? I don't I'm wanting go turbo back route since $$ and noise
  17. Mechanic fitted standard WRX suspension into the SH5 for me.. very pleased with the results. Wheel nuts were on so tight that it stretched the thread on the studs on 3 corners. So a big f**k you to whoever did this originally. Luckily he found it then.. otherwise if I had to change a tyre, I would've been screwed. I also chucked on a GFB Respons BOV because.. I don't really know why. Pssshhh??
  18. Yeah the STI is different and not a direct swap in SH5's, only the rear.
  19. Does anyone know if the springs and shocks used in an S-GT are the same as a WRX hatch from the same era? (V11 era)? And do the hatches use the same suspension as the Sedans? Edit: This is for my SH5 Forester to lower it. Unless anyone would advise against this..
  20. Howdy Howdy MY SH5 XT Handles like a boat. It's a given really. Stock suspension made for carting the family around but i'm not about that life. Obviously my options are adjustable's (which i'm not wanting to fork out for) and lowering springs.. But was also wondering if it's possible to lower an SH forester with say.. WRX suspension from the same era? Or anything else that anyone has had experience with?
  21. it’s absolutely a boat and I think that’s the first thing I need to address. Stupidly missed out on a full set of Pedders shocks and springs because the numpty selling them wouldn’t reply to my questions about shipping them.. should’ve just whacked but now!
  22. Does anyone here have experience modifying an SH5 Forester? Particularly a 2.0XT? Mine is bone stock and I don't even know where to begin.. exhaust, suspension, intake, tuning. I'm not overly sure how accustomed they are to modifications.
  23. Ah well at the end of the day it ended up being like a $3500 lemon. No need to mention how much money has been spent on it since though lol.
