  1. I'm looking for a good company to go through for insurance for my legacy during track days. Classic cover won't cover me because I don't have a garage and star won't cover me because its not a "prestige or classic" car. If I can't find a company that'll work with me I'll have to give up on wanting to track my car 😔
  2. Curious to hear what people think. If I provided a blown shortblock to a shop with a forged rebuild kit how much would I expect to pay (roughly) in labour cost to have it stripped, machined if necessary and have the new internals put in? This wouldn't include labour to remove the shortblock from the car or to install it in afterwards. Also what kind of engine failure would result in more expensive machining etc? Spun bearing, blown headgaskets, piston ringlands etc...
  3. I got my spec b legacy tuned recently to 191kw 356wnm at 16psi. On the dyno the boost spiked to 21 psi! Apparently this never happened on the street run which was done afterwards. It seemed weird because the clutch was slipping at 17psi, hence the boost being limited to 16psi. The clutch never slips when I drive it hard. Should I be concerned at all? A few months later the cambelt snapped, I'm not blaming this on the tuner, could a poor timing belt cause this? This is my first time ever getting a car tuned 😁
  4. Both, I understand subaru engines are usually more difficult to work on right and that that should reflect in the labour cost?
  5. I've got a 2008 STI that has been going through coolant recently, no smoke or sweet smells, no leaks on driveway and the temperatures have been normal with the water temp gauge being standard and oil reaching about 80-90 degrees before maxing out. However, being as paranoid as I am I'm getting this checked out and worried about the possibility of being the beginning of my headgasket(s) going out. If that's the case has anyone here had headgasket(s) replaced in a shop in the wellington region (I'm from Kapiti!) with prices and assurance of good quality?
  6. This has been happening for a little while now and I have no idea what it could be. Seems to happen on cold starts, when the car hasn't been driven for a long time (after a full work shift, overnight etc). Car drives with slightly less power with a bit of hesitation as the car warms up then drives as you'd expect it to when it's at operating temp (this may be normal for these cars? idk). I wanted to upload a video but doesn't seem I can. The hissing happens for maybe a second or two then completely stops and everything sounds normal. This hissing is loud an can't be missed! Any ideas or help would be great! Car: Subaru WRX STI 2008
  7. I'm assuming Loren was joking with that laugh react thrown in??
  8. I was wondering how hard it would be to put a v7 ej207 in a v11 grb sti. I found one from James Marshall that I've been told by them should be able to fit my car. Would I need a new ecu, simple retune ot anything else done to do this or is it as much as purchasing and paying a mechanic to put it in for me? Never done anything beyond a few bolt ons before and new to modding, thanks.
  9. Do you think? I seem to see manual version cost about 8-10k more for similar km's
  10. Just wondering if anyone knows how much a 6 speed manual swap into my current 5 speed auto would cost? Roughly. Pic because why not 😁 2010 wrx sti hatch.
  11. I recently put superlow kings springs in my 2010 wrx sti. I did this before in a different car without having any comfort issues (ultra low actually), but now the sti isnt driving nearly as nice as it did before. Reading online now it seems obvious I need to replace the shocks, I didn't realise that and couldn't be bothered paying for coilovers at the time, what shocks should I buy for my car?
  12. Got my first car I want to mod about a month ago being a 2010 Wrx Sti hatchback and I'm looking at replacing the wheels since they're badly curbed. Looking at these specific wheels which are 18/9.5/18 offset. Not sure if they'd fit well or how the width and offset compare to the stock wheels as I've never bought aftermarket wheels before. Cheers
