  1. Would need a crows foot spanner I think is what that special tool is called. Could use an adjustable wrench but then you'd round off the rack end and it'll be a farkin' b*tch to take off.
  2. Yup Honda do build reliable engines when kept NA, only problem you'll have is maybe an electrical fault but not that big... maybe a relay, starter? My Integra went really well clocked 280,000k's, raped it here and there had an oil leak too an still went fine no knocks at all!! Occasionally had to top up with oil every 2weeks, I regret selling too, because the new owner swapped it for a car that wasn't working dumb ass!! Don't ask why and how.... Drunk bastard. But to the guy who started the post if you're buying a Subaru or any car it comes down to how you treat it. I love my Legacy she's a 1991 and it's treated right and it's still going after 2years of being owned by me with 215,000k's on it. Only problem I had was the fuel pump but that was an easy fix.
  3. I'll also add on to that, I'm studying automotive tech. in auckland and my tutor says that as soon as you start the car drive the bastard because the fuel apparently removes the engine oil on the cylinder walls (clearances between piston/rings and wall) and will cause the piston to grind the sh*t out of the walls you won't hear it but that's effect you'll get. When you do drive off never rev the crap out of it lows rev's will do, and you're heating up the cooling system and the engine faster by doing it this way too and saving fuel too. My tutor's been in the game since the 1970's so he knows alot of info I wouldn't argue against that.
  4. Yup I never want to touch the ball joints cause I'd have no clue to how it goes back on!!
  5. This method works? I've got a set that are just sitting in the garage was a waste of time buying 'em cause nothing wrong with my steering boots thought that was the point of my leak but now can see it's from the rack but don't know where. Realized that there isn't any fluid in those boots haha total NOOB!!
  6. Would this be the same with bc5? Drove my auntie's forester and idle was smooth compared to my bc5 which tends to go down then up and even goes right down to 300-500rpm at times.... and since the engine codes are the same are the forester engines closed deck'd as well?
  7. Anyone had an leak at the top of the radiator right in the middle? I bought a cap from STA parts for around $13(discount from a mate who works for them) think retail was $16 and I think it's rated to 1.3bar...about 2months later the radiator f**cked over and slowly spits out water/coolant. Reason for changing the cap was because the seal had some rubber chipped away and water managed to squeeze past and leaked a little nothing major but thought i'd change it anyway, now you can see rust residue/colour/whatever on the top tank. Anyone got a spare factory radiator in Auckland that they don't need, willing to pay for it? Can anyone say 'under $50'? lmao
  8. Hey guys, whats the proper procedure of bleeding the cooling/radiator system? Sorry for hi-jacking and I've searched the forums but nothings come up...
  9. Cheers boostin' i was just confused. With that info you made it alot clearer heh heh complete noob here
  10. I thought so, that's what I was thinking when he told me that. MOTHERFOCKER!!! Oh well he missed out on $50 haha shame on him, might try another shop.
  11. My Legacy, all standard except for Blow Off and I think it's got 2.5inch piping done by previous owner as it's loud with such a small muffle tip has the nice rumble when it's revving. Needs another drivers skirt as the one on it now is slightly off but still holding on lmao. Cheers
  12. Would that work? ??? I'm thinking it might work, but would need heavy duty cutting tools to do that, which I don't have....seems like a cheaper option in buying a whole new rack....
  13. Now that I've just had a look at the engine, that picture is of that black box on the side of the throttle body, right? So that's the air temp thing which self-cleans, so the AFM doesn't need cleaning or would it be better to give it some light sprays of that cleaning agent?
  14. Sweet ;D. have you gotta pic. of everything hooked up? Would like to see it....if not algid.
  15. that's nasty mate, ok ok guess i'll just leave my halogen bright white bulbs in there, they're good enough. The fricken Lexus SUV's, lady driving that with her HID lights. Fricken' blinded me everytime I had a look at my rear view. I'm pretty sure she had high beams on...
  16. Hey black panther, where'd you get your t bit from? and the oil press gauge do you use mechanical or electrical?
  17. Umm can someone recommend me a rack to replace the stock one in a BC5. Gotta leak and the nut that needs adjusting for alignment has seized - exact words from the guy who was trying to do the alignment.
  18. Is this the one just after the air box? I had a look at AFM when I changed my plugs and it looked different....
  19. Can't we just put them on for now then when it comes to WOF time we just swap out the bulbs for halogen? Cops wouldn't know the difference would they?
  20. Anyone know if you can put these in a 1991 Legacy RS? Lol, don't have a clue so I'm asking you.....guys
  21. F*ck I've fallen victim to the same problem but now my battery's dead (5am in the morn, just b4 I start work). So have to fork out for new one.... So where exactly are these two relay's are they right behind the dash on the side above the fuse box or are they in the engine bay? What causes this sort of problem?
  22. How easy is it to replace? Looking at that step by step guide I don't have those tools, will I need them?
