  1. Finally bit the bullet and got myself some flares coming from the UK, it was that or wide-body...been 10 years going back and forwards on the two. Also ordered a origin-labo gt wing and grabbed a turbosmart BOV to replace my very old/crappy greddy bov... Now just gotta send it off for a re-tune in the mean time and get the last of the gremlins sorted. Then lastly figure out what wheels will fit...
  2. Got the alarm removed, new ignition and key...Then full fluid change and alike, now to look at tuners to do a full check and tune..Running super rich so would love to send it somewhere for some love, was looking at PBMS but I really don't want to send it all the way to Puke and back when I live in the North Shore. But is good giving the old wrx a spin after all these years.
  3. Hasn't been an issue for me for the same model, but then again I don't drive around in the middle of the night boosting it hard etc etc
  4. My V8 sti keep it open as my daily, as what is said above from my times on the track the back can have a nasty snap oversteer otherwise.
  5. 2 02 V8 STI - Daily 94 v1 WRX - Track Hack
  6. Reaction Racing I would recommend, but as above what Marky said...Tune costs approx $1000 maybe more maybe less depending if any snags are hit. My last one was $1400.
  7. Got a v8 sti, would love to get a v10 sti
  8. I've emailed the tuner for details to find out, I assume so....Yup keen for a trackday, just to stretch the legs and start working out any gremlins that are still lurking...
  9. Yeah mate, will do some searching and find out...Glad to hear the results look promising, from my novice brain reading it looked like it did the trick and the tuner had no issues. Still got to do the bum test with it and see how it goes.
  10. It's a TD06, been so long I have completely forgotten the specifics...so busy searching it now on CS as bought it off Gotasuby years ago.
  11. Got my track gc8 dropped off finally Here is the dyno..too quiet for my liking so exhaust is first thing to change. The dyno sheet for those that are in the know...I am for one not one of them lol I just want to hit the track and back up to speed in a literal sense.
  12. Got my sti it's service the other day, thats about it..Heading to Hamilton so my first kinda road trip out of Auckland with it.
  13. Yeah I have completely forgotten everything done to my build also Koom just said to them probably be easier if they ring RDL haha, gutted you beat me back on the road..Now it's on for who is road legal first
  14. Yup correct http://www.reactionracing.co.nz/gallery Want to get it on the road and running, get some track time..then next year I will look at chucking on a garrett 3076 or something. But for now like you say, I am at that point of being over talking about it but never have the damn thing running. When I was in, they were working on a Lotus Elise race car...Was pretty damn nice tbh, my credit card could get a pounding lol
  15. Unsure specifically, RDL performance who built my car recommended big time dropping it off to Mike at Reaction Racing and he will get it sussed. I know RDL performance fly those guys down to chch to do the tuning on their rally cars on a dyno down there so they have to be good..Not cheap but good.
  16. Well we broke Fastfours trailer , so what was a semi easy mission turned into a decent long day..Car is now finally at Reaction Racing to get all the last bits done and tune for the track. Then it is onto the panel work, bonnet needs new clear coat, few dings from earthquakes to knock out and also have my genuine trust lip to paint and attach.
  17. My track car finally landed in Auckland, getting it shipped to get it tuned shortly...then just some paint, chuck on a spoiler and bam done.
  18. They seem to perceive the idea that you get greater "skillz" from racing on the streets etc as more distractions blah blah blah..use to be the line I heard when I tried getting those guys more involved with trackdays. They would then come along, feel they got spanked cos "their sti hasn't lost a race yo" despite the guys on the track just happily doing their own thing...which resulted in 2 things happeneing a) early "retirement" due to an apparent mechanical fault or b) never see them back. Remember a R33 GTR that came along once to a trackday, had all the car skanks etc show up with the bravdao atitude to boot, brand new volk wheels and all cool looking bits. In the morning sessions he was passed by Koom's 89 legacy RS and a few other cars, he didn't go out again for the day but told everyone he had mechanical issues (of which the way he booted it out of Ruapuna told us that was a lie)
  19. Not sure of a mod but a self made bonnet vent.. definitely unique when ur aftermarket scoop flies off on the main straight many a year ago
  20. Haha and I still own Jason's old red wrx...Now it is alot different beast, had some good times as rep with some of the biggest cruises in chch with the old lumbo and ave runs, there was rexnet, submerge and clubsub which we all knew each other so was really just one big group of mates which was cool as the Forums were just a tool with txting to get things sorted asap. Was a pity a whole bunch of personal stuff with ex's etc got involved and it all fell apart which I lost me keeness to organise trackdays etc etc, gotta love life lessons but with Thorpy stepping up to the mantle it is great to see him helping out..I may step up to the Aux mantle one day, once my hours settle and I can actually organise events on weekends etc. Great seeing SIRWRX still around on here, some of us old Cs'ers are still here..Me, Thorpy, SIRWRX, Koom so good to see us still lurking. Then Now Some old CS meets And digging up some old photos, here is one of young Koom...hasn't changed much over the years aye bud
  21. Yup agree with above, hit the recommended places..Some places aren't so great some are, including VTNZ (franchises)I've had both good and bad experiences in different VTNZ outlets however that has applied also to other mechanics even supposed reputable ones. If you aren't confident then definitely get it checked out, and a cambelt is a must we can all get stuck into the technicality aspects however common sense is it must be changed round the 100k mark and if you can't find anything to confirm that then walk away. Bout a $1000 give or take for a proper cambelt job, you can try to eek a better price but is it worth all the hassle for a saving of $100? Mine was a little more but the service and other bits that got done at the same time not involving cambelt was well worth it. Even my machanic was happy to have a customer that wanted it all done properly and get the while your at it jobs done also, sure was a little extra coin but not having to worry about it later, next wof or at worse mechanical failure was a peace of mind for me.
  22. +1 to the above, IMO wheels and tyres are the bit that keeps on you the road yet it is mind boggling that is the part we tend to always want to cheap out on lol
