  1. Tl:dr - Can I swap an EJ205 from a V6 WRX into a V3 WRX STi without mods? As older members may remember my V3 WRX STi (GC8D) appears pretty buttercup coloured and leaves a citrus aftertaste. Well the grapefruit, It's blown another engine. I have acquired an EJ205 from a V6 WRX (GF8G) and am wondering if I can just bolt it in plug it up and bomb off into the sunset without any major issues or funny business required to get it going? The EJ205 is only supposed to be a stop gap measure until I can get round to stripping down and rebuilding the EJ20K. It has taken me 2 years to get the new motor and now another 6 months to think about working on the car so this may take a while. Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Oil Change and new Front Brake Disks, was suppoesd to do CV boots to but was too much like hard work.
  3. Washed it and cleaned 5000km of road grime off it
  4. fuel cells aren't supposed to split like that. FIRE IS BAD (the marshals are currently complaining about not being able to isolate the electrical system on the crashed car)
  5. Borrowed a noise metre and tested exhaust as per guidelines on lvvta.co.nz comes out at 107dbA that may be a smidge over the limit.

  8. removed the engine thats run a bearing Inserted new engine Swore a lot got soaked in the rain hooked up most of the things to the engine Snapped 3 b&*#%y perished vacuum lines (and now cant remember which one went where)
  9. Time for another daft question Where are all the vacuum lines supposed to go on a 97 WRX STi V3 All I have left to do on my engine transplant is put the vacuum lines back on to the engine to get it running. A diagram or photos would be absolutely awesome. (yes asshats I have used the search function)

  16. If it's not leaking is there a necessity to replace the seals? or am I going to be safe for the next 50,000ks. from the looks of the cambelt that came off it the engine has done less than 20,000 since it was last done.

  21. OK so as some of you know I'm replacing the engine in my WRX. My Question relates to the Main Oil Seal. while I'm do in the cam belt, water pump and rocker cover seals I have this "Main Oil Seal" but the maintenance manual I have does not have details for how or where to place said seal. So where does it go (point out on pic below) and how do I get it there?
  22. Took Cambelt covers off new engine and assembled engine stand ready for saturday
