  1. What is the car and what is the Turbo?
  2. 9 psi is wastegate pressure for a TD05, you won't get lower than that. Expect 12 to 13psi. Yeah Walbro. Piss easy job and nice and cheap too. Curious about your coil setup.. Individual coils or wasted spark modification, could you post a pic @THUNDA?
  3. Top right hand corner. These were blanked off on the Prodrive rally cars, see below.
  4. Fuel pump upgrade should be mandatory when raising boost in these cars. Yellow injectors were featured when the EJ20 went to the under intake manifold and only in the STIs. Besides that anomaly WRX which I can't remember the specs of - came with a VF roller bearing Turbo. Pull the coils out of the heads for a proper inspection, call Speedlab with details about the chip to rule it out as suitable for 440cc injectors or not - I'll go on record saying that it won't be, they are an upgrade for RS/GT and early WRX with 380cc injectors. Faster to do this than have it checked for AFRs. Swap out the afm with a known working unit, and look into the conotion of the Turbo. Re: Plug - the one in behind your retro fitted power sterring pump, will have been the speed sensor plug that would have been on your original PS pump most likely, the wires I'm not sure about, the only electrical stuff on the intercooler in that location were on the silver WAIC, which was a level sensor.
  5. Give PBMS a call, I can't comment on their Tuner - I've not met him, but Julius the manager is pretty approachable no harm in giving them a call to allay any doubts, 40 mins to them from here in Onehunga - so a wee bit of a trip from out West, but nothing like Tauranga. They have a nice modern dyno cell, that they bought from Speedsource, fully setup for Top mount coolers and external wast gate exhaust, and i imagine their pricing is very competitive as they are wanting to establish a good customer base and reputation. I'll be having mine run up for boost setup after a Turbo swap.
  6. TD05 is universally considered an upgrade from the VF8. You current ecu is suited to the TD05, and runs 12.7psi and makes about 260hp. TD05 has a 9 psi wastegate spring and the VF8 will have a 6 psi wastegate spring, if you rely on the ecu to control boost, then not running the correct ecu for the Turbo will result in poor boost control. Easy method to circumvent this if needed but - I would stay with your current setup.
  7. Why do you want to install a Turbo timer?
  8. Just put it in; Run 98 octane and keep an eye on boost levels, it may overboost, possibly in the higher gears. If so, you can remedy this. Been done before, time and time again. This is where you look at an in tank pump upgrade and split fuel rail.
  9. It will cost you about $1400 for new bearings/seals and replace syncromesh. That\'s including removal and refit. A new clutch wont add much more in labor. You could try a gearbox additive. Once again - not a cure - but may improve shifting while you figure out what you want to do. Will you still bring it to the meet?
  10. Did the previous owner not inform you of these issues? Besides stripping the gearbox and refreshing those particular synchros; you could drain and refill with a premium fluid - I would recommend Motul Gear 300 or similar market competitor, this only disguises the problem. Or may make it more noticeable. As Koom has pointed pointed out, Have a thorough look at the all of the ignition system - Pull the coils and inspect and change the plugs during. Perhaps look into a coil upgrade if these are stuffed. The intercooler pump is located under the passengers side headlamp. Turn the key to ON you should hear the Pump running. Probably needs new bearings easy to do or go find a 2nd hand pump at pick a part.
  11. Yes there is an SA WRX and the tune will be about 1 Bar.
  12. V1/2 Intercooler would be a downgrade. Even with a larger scoop butchered into the bonnet. Most likely the car will be running a VF8; which is slightly larger than a TD04 - boost threshold and lag would be negligible between them. Best thing for these cars would be a proven chip upgrade with the only other modification needed would be an uprated fuel pump.
  13. I\'ve seen the wagon in person. Very tidy, and very nice color.
  14. What was wrong with the black rs that wasn\'t running for 2k? Maybe something simple and leaves a lot of money for potential and likely issues as time goes on. As everybody has stated. 6k for that RS is too much.
  15. As above, does anybody know how much the front diff takes in the above vehicle. I\'m guessing 1 to 1.5 liters. Also your recommendations for a GL-5 oil for these boxes. Thanks.
  16. Somebody should make Marky a moderator. Most sense out of anybody in a longtime.
  17. How very specific. There\'s a difference in kerb weight and fully wet, model year, and sedan/wagon.
  18. my bad hard to pick that up with text Fair enough, point is the weight difference is hardly a yawning chasm. Anyway, Marky hit the nail.
  19. Perhaps you should look through official Subaru brochures.
  20. So we are comparing standard performance then. I which case I agree. My point is that technically both are more or less the same. Yearly and model research and development aside. Do you actually know the kerb weight of each vehicle?
  21. Why can\'t you? You can compare a Evolution to an STI and they are two technically different vehicles all together.
