  1. Hi Anyone in Wellington keen to replace the clutch in my v4 type r? As a weekend or cash job? Thanks Q
  2. Is a Low Volume Cert also required for the cage and race seats for a road registered car? q
  3. I haven't driven it other than out of the garage and then back in, can't really given its a track car. But it did feel a bit weak getting up the driveway, why you ask? q
  4. Ahh OK, another possibility then, so how do you find it was the seal? how did ya tell which one it was? Thanks q
  5. Easy enough to try the restrictor. How would I check if it is the injector seal? that is possible as I had all the injectors out. q
  6. Sounding like the restrictor in the oil feed line, VF23's have a smaller feed than the TD's and I'm using the TD05 one.
  7. So how do you verify a blown turbo oil seal then? q
  8. turbo was brought from a fellow clubsubber, so I'd hope its ok.
  9. Cheers, that was one of my thoughts as the turbo is new to the mix, and wondered if that could be letting water into the exhaust perhaps. Joker, no antifreeze in the water just yet, only filled it up with water to get the car up and running. Head gasket was my thought but as mentioned I've done a comp test which was fine, I know it can blow into the exhaust side too, but as mentioned it wasn't doing it before I had it off the road, so I'd be surprised if a gasket would blow with the car sitting around. q
  10. So after getting the RS running again it bellows piles of white smoke out of the exhaust. I mean piles and piles of white smoke!!! which smells quite bad too. Now it never used to do this, apart from cold, and maybe a little at idle. So since last running I have been pulling it apart over the last year, internally the engine has stayed stock, I've added a VF23 and a pile of other bolt on mods. Now that it back together its running, idles nice and smooth I haven't been for a strop as its not registered. It will badly need a tune, but I want to make sure I have as much sorted before it goes on the dyno, as fixing probs on the dyno costs more than I have. I did a compression test before pulling the RS apart and got nice even compression across all cylinders. Usually I hear white smoke is a sign of a head gasket fault, but given this wasn't happening before I pulled the engine down, I'd be surprised if the gasket failed while the car sat round for a year. What other causes could there be for heaps of white smoke? could it be a turbo problem? Thanks Q
  11. Thats well before it was running, lots still missing! q
  12. Mines still work in progress, I ground off the ICV and all the lugs. I just turned the manifold around but needed the Throttle body mounted a bit lower for bonnet clearance. I run a link but its still hard to get a nice cold idle
  13. Cheers Optical now that makes perfect sense, have spent the day orking out what I could have missed and how I could be loosing pressure! Cool, will keep marching on! water/cooling pluming left and its time to fire the old girl up!
  14. Hey, Thanks for the ideas, 1st could be but its mounted into the FPR so chances are slim but possible, not sure how to check that. 2nd - not sure why you need pressure after the acc is off, but I was under the understanding that was normal and one of the ways to set the pressure on an adjustable FPR. For extra info the fueling system on the RS is a JAZ cell, external Bosch pump, inline filter, adjustable FPR, split fuel rail. q
  15. Hi all, My fuel pressure drops off pretty much straight after the ACC goes off. The RS isn't running yet anyway but getting close to being back running, when I turn the ignition to ACC the pump primes and pumps the rail upto pressure. This drops straight off to zero on the gauge on the FPR after the pump turns off. I thought the fuel pressure should be kept in the fuel system? I have no fuel leaks I can see, so must be loosing pressure somewhere/somehow else, any ideas? Cheers
