  1. Thanks for the replies. Factory gaskets. Iacv, and tps is connected. I'll post some pictures when I get home. The rpm was not changing when the engine was turning over. I assumed anything out of the ordinary would trigger a fault code?..
  2. Hi, I changed my intake manifold gasket and now my car will not start (its winding over). I have a V5 sti with link ecu. I'm pretty sure I have plugged all sensors in (there is 1 disconnected plug near the throttle body but I cannot find if it connects to something or if it is supposed to be unplugged). I have taken 2 videos of the pc link software as I don't really understand what I'm looking at, if someone could maybe help diagnose an issue based on the info in the video I would be grateful, I could throw in a box of beers or something if anyone can point me in the right direction Regards, Brad.
  3. Hey, I got an error code 49 on my link g4 which is AN T3 at 5V (IAT sensor). With the sensor disconnected the ECU is displaying 24 degrees Celsius and with it connected 36 degrees Celsius. It is only about 10-15 degrees outside and the car hasn't been running for days. Does anyone know the resistance curves of the link IAT sensor so I can test to determine if its a sensor or loom issues. Here is a picture of the PC Link screen http://tinypic.com/r/25hfipw/9 Cheers.
  4. Thanks for the advice guys. The AVS GPS tracker saved me a $1800 excess from NAC... unit just paid for itself a few times over. Police advised a steering wheel lock as well just to add another layer of protection/deterant
  5. Yeah they had a get away car, just finished fingerprinting with police .. they used gloves
  6. ^^ i agree very lucky. who would have thought smoking saves lives (car lives). I found this article on alarms http://vehiclesecurity.co.nz/blog/how-effective-is-your-immobiliser The AVS is a joke.
  7. Hi, Not quite sure what category this would come under. On friday night i left my lighter in the car.. i went out to get it and caught some a**hole about 10 seconds away from taking my gc8 version 5 sti. Somehow he got past my AVS s5 alarm/immobilizer without touching it / setting it off (interesting to find out how), smashed my ignition barrel and was literally 1 click from starting it. I have lost all faith in the AVS alarm and will be replacing it with a decent alarm. Has anyone had experience with repairing a smashed ignition? or maybe something a bit more secure than a stupid ignition that can be defeated by vice grips (some type of secure remote/push button start that cannot be hot wired). I have spent way to much time and money on my car for some punk to steal it for a joyride/stripping it. I am lucky that i saved my car but now i am paranoid they will be back to finish the job. Thanks in advance for your replies.
  8. Hi i am installing my flywheel right now can anyone tell me the torque specs for the flywheel and pressure plate for a 1998 subaru wrx sti v5 thank you very much brad
  9. Hi i brought a IHI VF-34 turbo off ebay about 2 months ago for my v5 wrx sti, after install when i started it there was a puff of light greyish smoke and it happened sometimes when i started the car ( sometimes after short periods off and sometimes long ) i got an aftermarket link ECU and got a dyno tune for the new turbo ( they removed my air flow meter as i was told it was not required) lately when i have been boosting over about 12 psi a whine noise starts and the turbo then cuts out then kicks back in when the boost lowers a bit. so im assuming the turbo bearings and seals are stuffed i have done a lot of searching of forums and i have read that they can and can not be rebuilt, does anyone know of a place i can get this rebuilt in NZ or even overseas i am not too bothered on price as long as its cheaper than a brand new replacement thanks heaps brad
  10. what about BC Golds? only 1650 installed on trademe are they good compared to tein superstreets? thanks
  11. Hi guys my rear suspension in my wrx sti v5 is starting to die, im looking for a good set of coilovers for road and a some track driving has anyone had any experiance with these yellow speed coilover competition premiums? http://www.drivenperformance.co.nz/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=1776 or what would you recommend?? i want to spend max 2.5-3k and does anyone know the cost of getting the LVV certification for the aftermarket suspension thanks Brad
  12. Hi guys, I just pulled out my turbo and it's looking pretty sad could someone please pm me steve's details to get it rebuilt. Cheers
  13. thanks so much i will pull it off today and check it out you guys are the best
  14. Hi i have a 1998 subaru wrx sti v5 its pretty standard just aftermarket exhaust and pod filter. was running fine up until a few days ago when i started it in the evening ( had only been sitting about an hour off) and there was a large cloud of white smoke out the exhaust for a few seconds, this happened on the next couple of start ups then dissapeared so far, but now when the turbo timer is running i can hear the turbo winding down and it never used to make this noise before the other day, i also noticed the boost kicks in at a much higher rpm now and its very weak only reaching .6 bar where as it used to reach .9 bar. clutch could be going but i don't believe it is this because this has only started happening since the smoke any ideas would be greatly appreciated
