  1. Yeah, but then it's only good for one thing, Feeler Gauges are good for heaps of things. Also, bending? It sits in a little collar, doesn't exactly bend.. also, screw iridiums, run coppers, save your money. No need for iridiums.
  2. I'm fine with 4 cyl, just not sure how far back the cylinders sit on the 3.0 is all. Those little Bahco swivel socket tools are amazing for doing plugs.
  3. you can always re-gap them to the right depth, I never trust spark plugs tbh, always gap them before insertion
  4. nelson scoob are usually pretty good for buying parts; gearbox on an n/a is easier as you have access to the dipstick without removing an intercooler, Rear diff is pretty easy too, just make sure you can undo the filler hole before the drain hole- no good draining a diff you cant fill.
  5. If you DIY it right, then the money you save over time beats the overall money made on resale value. Standard items, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, in cabin filter. Fluid changes, box/diff oil, I'd check the plugs personally- but that may not be easy in a 3.0. check your brake fluid, clutch fluid make sure it's okay. maybe run a can of upper engine cleaner through it too, breathe a bit of life.
  6. I went to wanganui once. Just once. I can see why you haven't been in ages.
  7. It'll go down, I get the insurance company to review the costs every 6 months or so; can usually bring it down a bit. especially considering no driving offences in a while. eh 22k car, it's only like an extra 20 a month compared to my old STi lol
  8. at 17; I'd spent a year of part time work money on making a broken twin turbo legacy a working single turbo legacy... also, NAC are sh1t; no free glass cover- that is 40% of the reason I go full cover. S*** man, I was happy when my legacy premiums dropped to 94 a month.. admittedly that was multi-vehicle insurance. kids these days......
  9. on the bright side it meant i had less money to go out, thereby cause trouble and be one of those unfortunate knobs to wrap themselves around a tree. I don't have a lot of self control, I have to force myself hahha. Admittedly, I spent more time fixing my legacy than actually driving it, so the insurance was mainly incase it caught fire hahahha (Full cover from day 1 though)
  10. I forgot what my annual premium for full cover on my STi is; It's not much tbh; think like 130 a month at most. For an under 25 with a modified car, with it insured to auckland. Car is valued at 23k iirc. so it's okay. Unlike those of you using your parents for insurance; I started paying my own at 18, so a few years down the track I now have a good record with my insurance company, and my premiums drop. also, Clubauto do a defence force discount
  11. That depends entirely how you drive it.
  12. anything fits, with enough persuasion. In this case, persuasion may be a welder and an angle grinder (with cutting discs). I think, do not quote me- that the Hangers are in different location, and that it potentially crosses over at a different point.
  13. they have the same stud pattern as the V9 onward STi (Not sure about the strut width though_ so if you get the top hat measurements/ check design of the struts that could be done. Or even get bilstein inserts and shortened struts
  14. i hope your "subaNoodle" is feeling better edit: nohomo
  15. it was definitely bore wash, but once that happens, rings get real warm, oil makes its way past and it requires a tear down. Maaaybe find a bit of gouging on the cylinder wall I reckon.
  16. with even better luck, just rings
  17. Got bolts in the rear exhaust section, and a new gasket... It sort of fell out-not sure where but pretty sure before the track- note for anyone- Always use spring/split washers. I sort of blame RAGE for not including enough bolts/gaskets and no washers for the exhaust system. But I was also really lazy, it's algood now. Also picked up a DEFI controller and a couple of gauges(water temp and boost incl sensors) for $250, I have all the sensors- so just looking out for an oil pressure and temperature gauge if anyone has em. And daisy chain cables to go with it would be ideal. don't need sensors. though I think the controller I have is a different version to the one that was originally in the car as there is a weird 3 pin plug- have yet to trace it it appears to have female connections, maybe like it was an extension? Currently away from car for the week so can't get pictures to elaborate.
  18. yeah. i will get to that... it still stops good. my line was cut off on my first cool down lap- had to hit the picks on the corner before the straight... they hold heat reeeeeeal good. they dont make that noise now though @Kiwi_Fozze
  19. Only reason to Turbo an N/A, for turbo with hi/lo ratio goodness.
  20. 50k and I'll sell you my V9, tastefully modified, 220kwatw. never been thrashed......cold. I mean like yeah it's not worth 50k, but I would love to have that kind of cash floating around.
  21. lose a car, gain a smoke machine. To be fair, that's an expensive smoke machine.
  22. yeah garmin virb xe with standard software for it. collects gps and yaw/accel information as you shoot. a whole bunch cheaper than a gopro and is natively waterproof too.
  23. in cab footage of a later run where I try to not cook my brakes. watch me try wake up duane, then skip to about 3:20 unless you like waiting in line
  24. 10/10 Subaru 12 hour le mans bender Squad. 3 hours sleep and a day of tracking. Would recommend. May or may not have got my brakes hot, but they were great by the time I got home. Cheers to everyone for making it such a great weekend, and everyone was smiling. Perfect track conditions. Unfortunate about the kill count of the weekend, Will have to wait until anzac day to get a final Tally I imagine.. oh special shoutout to @Kiwi_Fozze for getting me set up with launch control. It's too much fun, probably why there are laws that 'technically' prohibit its use on public roads. Hearts for all
