  1. Cheers guys, Thought that might be the case. Went with a TD05.
  2. I could make 180kw na on that engine running k20a pistons in it which would bump the static compression to I think 12.5:1 but I have opted to go down the turbo route because its easier to throw another stock block in when it goes bang than to rebuild a new engine and due to the nature of the engine having long stroke reving it high as an na engine all the time will cause it to have a short shelf life anyway. Suppose I should just spend a little extra and get a decent wrx turbo. Not like its going to cost much more in the scheme of things anyway. Im just a cheapo when it comes to buying parts to get the overall cost of a build down. Cheers
  3. Hey guys, So im after abit of information as I can find almost nothing about the vf27 turbo other than that it is the secondary turbo on a legacy and that it flows(420cfm at 18psi) Now im after a turbo for a honda im building. Engine im running is a 2.3L from an odyssey which can only rev safely to around 7k rpms. Its a stock block build with 8.8:1 compression and im looking for around 180kw so dont need a massive turbo. So does anyone have any information about the vf27 and how much power people typically make with them? Any information would be great. Going off the chart im looking at the vf24 only flows 425cfm at 18psi. Thanks
  4. Yeah mate, just got told about that before. I may have over looked the wiring on the crank angle sensor and cam angle. Will check them first thing tomorrow.
  5. Yes I have an igniter wired up. yes I know I should have used a v3/v4 engine but I was being cheap and asked on here and people seemed to think that a v2 engine would work just as easy on a gtb...Dont know why I assumed it would. Must have drunk to much that week. The car sounds like its trying to fire for a second when I first turn it on so might be a grounding issue somewhere.
  6. Hello, I have put a v2 wrx engine into a 96 gtb legacy as I was told by alot of guys on here that it will go in no problems... Turns out they were kinda wrong as alot of things are different. Now the car turns over fine but wont start as its got no spark. I used the single turbo conversion guide to wire up a 1S ecu from a v3/v4 wrx and have converted the engine to the single coil pack with spark plug leads. But im still getting no spark. With the loom I used the standard wrx loom as most of the plugs were the same and there was one different plug of about 8 wires that went to the drivers side firewall in the wrx but was a different plug but on the passanger side in the legacy. There was the same amount of wires and all the colours were the same so I just assumed they were the same. Was I wrong? Is there likely that there is something I have missed and something that needs changing?? I have used gtb injectors but I have not changed from a 4 wire to a 3 wire tps. I assumed again here that this would not stop it from starting but would cause it to run like shit? Was I wrong and I need to convert this before going any further? Is there a way to convert my 4wire to trick the ecu into thinking its the 3 wire tps?? Also does anyone with a wrx v3/v4 have a picture or diagram of where the booster solanoids and the 2 other solanoids vac hoses that were in the BBOD go to? I may have got those wrong aswell but again I assume that wouldnt cause it to not start. I have fuel but am no getting any spark. I have double checked all my wiring and its all correct as per the diagram I used in the single turbo conversion thread. Thanks for reading if your still with me. If you have any ideas and I mean any ideas at all im all ears. Thanks Haden
  7. Hello, Quick question. Is a v3/v4 wrx a 3 wire or 4 wire tps? Thanks
  8. Hey guys. Does anyone know if a 4 wire tps sensor from a legacy will bolt up to a wrx throttle body that currently runs a 3 wire tps?? Or are they different shape/mounted differently? Thanks
  9. Hello, So I asked afew questions on here and did some research online and it seemed to come across that there wasnt much difference between v2 and v3 wrx engines in terms of wiring/sensors but I think the information I got was wrong. So I have put a v2 wrx engine in my bg5? gtb 1996 legacy and am trying to get it to run using a v4 wrx ecu as I was told this would would but its turning over but not firing. I did what it said to do to my wiring in the single turbo legacy conversion thread as I figured that would be the same and the engine looms like almost identical with the same colour wires going out of the plugs. How ever there are 2 extra wires that I have found so far from one of the plugs by the battery. One is a brown wire and the other is red/green wire. I think I traced the brown wire to the tps sensor which is a 4 wire but looking at my old loom it looks like the old tps is a 3 wire??? Would that mean I need to put a newer tps sensor on in order for the ecu to work as I would assume the wrx of the same year would be same tps as the gtb. Also would I need to use the coilpacks on the plugs from the gtb to work with the v4 ecu or would the v2 coil packs work fine??? Is there anything else I may have missed?? Its annoying me as I just cant get it to start. edit: Also is there anyway to check what error codes a car is throwing without plugging in a reader thingy? On the hondas I used to be able to jump 2 wires and it would flash each code on the dash. Do subarus have anything like this? Cheers Haden
  10. It says to Wire A9 (loom) into A10 (ECU). Does this mean to splice the A9 into the A10 wire keeping A10 wired up there or to removed A20 completely and put A9 in its place? Thanks
  11. This is something that I was pondering aswell. I feel that they apply the term boy racer to anyone who fits under the following catagories when driving, A) Is a male under the age of 25 but can go up to 29. B) Anyone whos driving a car that has any modifications on it even a dihatsu mira with a cannon muffler C) Anyone who drives a car that is slightly sporty in anyway. I hate how people think im a boy racer because I drive modified cars or even the missus sti which is almost stock. I often find its the soccer mums(again I realise the irony of myself labelling them) who dont pay attention when merging etc to be the most annoying thing on the road.
  12. Legend!!! So a 1s is a Ver 3 GC8 D WRX MT 1S AC721 D55 E AA271 Orange AA090 VF22 EJ20K Yellow Injectors Which is a just a standard v3 wrx ecu and that 6s is the v3 sti ecu. Thanks for your help, Will be picking up a wrx 95 engine this weekend now
  13. can you please elaberate on 1s and 6s ecu. Im honestly that new to subarus haha.
