BNT Disc rotors :(

Recommended Posts

Ok so has anyone had any problems with the discs that BNT sell as a replacement for factory ones? I put a pair on a mates GTB a while back and 500km's later brake shudder, got them skimmed, 500km's later brake shudder, pulled them off and made BNT supply a new set, as far as I know no more brake shudder, and there was no crazy driving either to cause it. Now I have recently put the same rotors on my GTB and hey what do ya know 1000kms after them being on the car, brake shudder!!!!! Now I'm pretty sure my legacy gets looked after better than most other ones out there and I havent been doing any retarded driving in it, I have had everything and I mean everything checked on it and the discs are warped plain and simple.

Has anyone else had the same or similar problems?

I recon it's got heaps to do with how you treat them when they're brand new. Every time I have new rotors I take it pretty easy on them for about a week and always try to avoid having my foot on the brake after stopping where possible.

Well...once I wasn't as much of a d*&k about it and they ended up shuddering so I'm real careful now/

"Apparently" brake shudder it caused by build-up of pad material and uneven heating/cooling of pads and rotors?.....or so I'm told.

:)

Fit genuine- they are well priced ($120+ trade) on average

Why muck around with sub quality stuff in the braking dept !!

Your not the only one to have BNT rotors warp under 1000 km - know of tow other sets in the past year done the same (cars not thrashed either)

Try a new set of pads after machining the discs. There was a problem with the genuine Subaru pads for the BL/BP GT's a few years back where they had a high sulphur content. Chuck in a bit of rain etc and sulphuric acid was created on the face of the pad, which would eat ever so slightly into the face of the disc, resulting in brake shudder. A revised pad and machined or new discs sorted it.

mine were machined 15000km ago and shuddering again. Finding that BL/BP discs are expensive. Znoelli said more expensive then brembo since nothing uses that size. Currently best price is for RDA discs.

Haven't priced Subaru yet after hearing how expensive the brembo discs are...

Any idea what genuine are worth? 316mm.

Retail is $138 + gst. All discs are this price apart from Brembos.

not bad will look into it. Factory pads or go with something else?

Sorry for hijacking the thread

Factory pads are also $138 + gst. Your call really. I think better pads can be had for similar money though.

Useed BNT rotors on my last 2 WRX with no issues, street or track except a set cracking after 40,000km on my current WRX.

But to be fair I was mid lap at Manfield and I wasnt gentle on the brakes when I had to stop suddenly due to gearbox failure so they got no warmdown.

Always used with Bendix Ultimate pads.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
