EJ20 hit the 300k mark :D problems...

Ive ticked over the 300k mark with my EJ20ddm, still going strong, but have a horrid ticking noise, with a random idle (sits at 600 then climbs to 1500 then drops again) i've been told its the piston heads rattling as they have worn down, as the noise is on and off.

Suggestions?

And am I lucky to make 300k?

this ticking you talk of is just the wear in noise, you still have another 300,000 before you need to worry

And where would I locate the place to put upper engine cleaner in? I herd there was a plug to remove

On gravel or wet, yes. If you're turbo, yes Otherwise don't underestimate the little thing

Non turb, on tarmac, both 2L, I think her celica is lighter, but ultimate braging rights are on the line, so I gota try make my N/A faster

If it's a 6th gen celica (the one with the four round lights) they're actually heavier in stock trim than the older legacies and imprezas. They're not that slow though (at least the 3s-ge ones aren't, used to own one before my WRX) 177hp for the 94-97 and 195hp or so for the vvti 97-99 ones

Well, its a 1996 one, all I saw is that it had some minor body kit on it, and I carjamed it too see some specs as she said it was stock.
