your obviously a complete knob jockey because slots are to remove the gasses produced between the disc and pads

mercedes benz would not spend extra money on many of their cars just to put slots in their rotors if they arnt needed.... thats my 2 cents worth anyway

ok this is a thread about pads not rotors guys....

i'll drag it back on topic and say i love my bendix ultimates that i'm running in the front of my car. they havent faded on me at all at taupo or puke, they are dusty but they work (for me at least)

in saying all this i'll be using different pads next time round just so i can try keep my wheels cleaner....

Bendix SRT finally available here ?

How much ?

Sizes ?

How do they compare with Ferodo TS2000 ?

I put them on an Evo 6, cost $320 all up (front and rear).

Got them through a V8 performance specialist shop of all places down here in Christchurch who got them out of Australia... BNT don't import them :(

TRW/Lucas pads are quite good for street, and they dont do too badly on the track either...pretty good fade resistance. Dusty as hell though.

Mintex 1166's are a good race pad, will set you back about $200ish a set from Race Brakes in Auckland.

Only knob is you.

Modern pad formulations no longer produce as much gas obviating the need for slotting.

Typical for a twat who proclaims ebc greens as the best.

Slots are however useful for expelling water when driving through large puddles at speed!... in the case you need to stop and aren't hydroplaning because of excessive speed! ;D :D

Twice EBC has been mentioned by somebody using them.

First to QRAF; EBC black pads are an OEM syle compund. Not the sort of pad for track work...

Green pads are also not rated for track use.

I think saying EBC is crap is a bit harsh.

so do you think if i get new disc's the same thing will happen again because of the ebc brakes as i do want to take it back on the track even if it is next year.

I want to be able to stay out there longer, i knew i should of changed the brake fluid.

will see if i can get my disc's skimmed and see if that sorts it.

Your best bet is to throw some new discs, fluid and pads in there, bed them in correctly and make sure you do a proper cool down lap next year at the track.

Im only running 294mm 2pots on the front stopping 1700kg and despite getting smoking hot quite often they havnt warped on me

sweet as i got the standard 4 pots and yeah agreed to the cool down lap, lesson learnt.

I did a front rotor change, pads all round, and some high temp rated fluid for mega meet and oh the difference. Didnt run out of brakes anywhere on the track..

Went with Zinollei S12 rotors and their Sp500 pads.. they are a good combo.. Not bagging others, its just what ive used and i really like them. They are giving Clubsubbers 15% discount as well.

and yes letting them cool is a good idea, and never stop straight away and pull up the hand brake - something i learnt the hard way. Dumb i know but i just didnt know at the time. (you see a lot of guys pushing their cars a few feet after a few hot laps) - this stops the heat building up in any one spot on the rotors..

So much fun to be had in this thread...

:D

Mercedes are all about bling !

Take a peek at all the toys in a new C-, E- or S- class.

Bendix SRT

...had a feeling these were not an official import

Don't need slots for puddles anymore, some of the latest Euros automatically squeeze the brakes a little to dispel water.

Have had personal experience with EBC and compared to Ultimates or TS2000's they are indeed crap.

Quite a few friends have also used them, once or twice for the more foolhardy.

Standard equipment on driver training cars is no great endorsement either; I've seen trailerloads of BMW Driver Training cars fitted with Chinese takeaway tyres.

Skimmed discs are even more prone to warping as they will be thinner than standard.

Rotors are a wear and tear item so why waste $$$.

Been there, done that with various DBA products.

:P

Best VFM... stock rotors, good pads and fluid, properly bedded in and cooled down after a hot run.

my 2 cents..

i have standard rotors and standard pads as per subaru spec

4 pot front/2 pot rears

the only thing i did was (*upon good advice from a learned person - thanks brad)

put in motum rpf600 (thsts the name i think) fluid

chucked braided lines but thats more for feel..

anyway, just the fliud change and bleed did wonders and i had NO break issues at all

to be honest, if budget is tight then just do good fluid and bleed and set of standard pads..

not expensive but bloody effective..

for avarage punters anyway..

thats also what the racebreak website says -

and also the cool down lap will make sure no uneven pad/rotor wear

More surface area = faster cooling. It's basic physics. The amount of additional cooling from slots is of course the topic of discussion.

I wouldn't recommend Hawk pads. Lasted only two events, and wore the OEM disc right down. Just standard 2pots on the front. I suspect they are just very hard wearing. I have good fluid and braided lines, and it still didn't feel 100% around Manfield. I'm going to Endless now on a recommendation.

Also, someone mentioned something in an earlier post, they don't all have slotted discs ( AMG OEM discs ) :

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
