That sucks man,

Our workshop boy joshs wrx got broken in to at his house in eastbourn last thursday night. They tried to seal his G3, and they stole his snowboard

Its suprising how meny peoples battery back ups in there sirens are flat. I find this often at work. Its worth checking this, to check that it gos off and that it lasts for a couple of minuites, rather then 10-15sec with a stuffed battery, but pulling your battery off without sliencing the alarm (have the alarm key handy to slience it)

That sucks about josh's break in

The lady that lives in front of us said the car's alarm and siren went off for hours so i guess mine must have been working pretty well so lucky in that regard

woah thats kinda emm scary

they knew where the siren was . . . .

This, this, this. The f***ers have seen under your bonnet before they came after it. Do you have pics on the net or anything with the siren visible?

I've never heard of car thieves ripping the scoop off a car. They knew exactly what they were going for, at least when the siren lost it's 'dont scream' signal it went off...

EDIT:

;/

Be careful what's visible in your pics guys!

EDIT2, ninja power:

Yup, I found everything a car thief would need in your build thread. Paranoid ka-pow!

Yup i have review that thread now and can see what you mean, makes life pretty easy for them however that then means its someone that know ME or MY CAR well and also know where it was keep, as if they did a rego find they would not have come to its current location

lol people rave about battery back ups,

bucket of water = owned

large hammer blow = owned

That is so true, i think that i got lucky this time but am revising the alarm install and adding some bonus features to it as well

Police have made contact with me in regards to the break in and wish to fingerprint the car and items destroyed, they said they have some possible leads and just require a descent finger print to prove the person(s) involved

They informed me that a number of Subaru's where broken into that night, the intention of the people was for the whole car, mine was one of two that still remained out of 21. Police believe it was targeted (ordered to be stolen)

They also told me that an automotive industry was under investigation for stealing car and selling parts and asked me which ones i had been to within the last 6 months, this was very interesting point

I guess i just got lucky that early morning, cos man it would have sucked if that actually took it

My GOD man.

That is a lot of very, very interesting information to process...

Goddamn, I hope they get what they need and make these bastards BURN IN HELL. And I sure do hope they find and return the other cars...

Something else I thought of, could the brain be seen by shining a torch through the scoop first? You don't necessarily need to know where it is, to see if you can see it. Judging by the above pic, probably yes.

It's obviously a bit of a common spot to install them.

In my old legacy it was installed underneath the pod filter. Was a c**t to get to to turn the alarm off, but you knew that no thief could get to it.

Nope provided the scoop is in place the brain is unable to been seen, however this will be moved with a revised plan of attack for the cars alarm system, the broke in one and tried to steal it, i'm not going to give them another opportunity

There's a virtually unstoppable way of beating alarms. I just hope the crims haven't thought of it yet. In fact I assume quite a few have.

Short of pulling out your coil-pack whenever you leave the car it's damn hard to stop someone a determined professional crim driving off with it.

Sirens are a tricky thing. By their very nature they're not hard to find, you just go looking for the screaming thing. There's ways to deal with them without even ripping them out, even battery backup. Again, as usual, I won't go into it in details.

yes its easy to find it while its screaming but while they focus on that your behind them ready to beat the crap out of them..

Interesting. Was awake playing xbox and thought I heard some noises outside but wasn't sure if it was the game or actually outside...and then my car alarm decided to s*** some brix! Not amused. Couldn't see anyone outside and my investigations with high powered torch revealed no criminals in the shadows, and I cannot see any signs that anyone actually tried to get into the car; all locks intact, boot and bonnet still closed (would've heard the bonnet slam in any case), all windows intact and in place, all scoops and vents fine...wtf! Could've been one of the other sensors but I have no way to tell if those were triggered.

If this is some awful cooincidence I am not amused.

Pretty stupid to steal a car from outside a house that has a bedroom light on about 2 metres away from the car though, if it was someone trying to nick it.

brb removing all wheel nuts

brb removing ANYTHING of value from the vehicle (not that there was much more than a $100 stereo in there anyway)

brb sleeping with number 1 wood next to my bed

Holy crap :/ That's not too different to the circumstances behind mine trying to be pinched tbh - especially with the whole bedroom 2 metres away thing.

Number 1 wood's big but light, wouldn't you want an iron to slap them the f**k up with? :P

Dunno, longer than the iron so swinging it gives a nice targeted blow with good momentum :P

i am in agreement with shale on the use of a driver as a weapon of mass mutilation.

much too light to inflict the injuries required.also too valuable to damage.

i would follow tiger woods ex missus example and select perhaps my lucky 7 iron.

steel shaft and steel head much more efficient at hacking and chopping from my experience.

[fyi]my driver is a titleist 905r 7.5 degree ,green envy 65 stiff shaft.i would be reluctent to smash it over some scumbags head.

70mm welding cable guys. 50cm of it, strip a few cm off the end you're not holding...

I sleep so light. Used to leave $$$$ worth of stereo equipment in a car parked outside my window, at night now if a car even comes down my street I'm awake and peeking out the window like a grumpy old man.

How hard is it to properly install an alarm in a 2001 Legacy? I have done some car audio installs in mercs and rovers in the past but the last car I had was a '79 Escort so wiring was not really a challenge.

Chuck it in the technical section, maybe someone can answer there :)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
