tyres

RE070 definately has less grip in the wet, but so do all tires. They're not iceskates if that's what you mean. They still have as much grip in the wet as my old Bridgestone Playz PZ-1 did in the dry.

$370 sounds about right for that sort of tire. You have to pay to play. There's no cheap shortcuts if you want rubber that matches up with your Spec C's potential. IMHO putting lesser rubber on a Spec C is a waste of time.

Not if you don't/can't realise it's full potential.

;D

Stick to T1R's or RE11s.

RE070 will just take you back towards the hard ride you complained about months ago.

The RE070R is the run-flat model, as used on Nissan GT-R etc.

surely re11s are stiffer/more aggressive than re070s??

They're cheaper. Not sure about much else ;D All I know is I am REALLY F**KING HAPPY with mine. :)

Im almost tempted to rip off the adrenalins off my v7 sti, they just dont do it for me. Brakes lock them up easily. depends on what price i can get the re11s for i suppose.

I like my R888's they are good for driving around on the road on. Or there is always the Porsche cup Michelin slicks i have.... mwahahahahaha.

Serious comment, the nicest road tyres iv driven on the had a good performance aspect to them and they worked mint in the wet (i know this because i found it harder to spin out been a dick head) are falkin f452's!!! I rate them highly!!

I've been through Adrenalins too - can't remember getting the proper made in Japan ones either so yeah, lots of similar problems to you. Hate Adrenalins. Never again.

The RE-11 are faaantastic! Pity you weren't part of the Auckland group buy from a while ago though; they were $205 inc GST per corner!

As has already been mentioned, if you want real grip don't use road tyres. R888s aren't the best semi slick, but they are normally cheaper than Bridgestone road tyres and while they wont last as well, they will show you the true limits of your Spec C's chassis.

However if you must use road tyres, I personally wouldn't waste my money on Bridgestones when a set of T1Rs are so much cheaper and nearly as good. Either way, you aren't going to find the limits of them on the road unless your a c*ck, so why not get reasonable road tyres and save up for some proper tyres to use on the track?

On a side note - has anyone used the Star Spec Z1 from Dunlop? They are supposed to be their near semi slick road tyre and I am curious how good they are, although I suspect they will be a ripoff like most Dunlop tyres.

I just had a full set of Bridgestone MY01 put on my TS-R and so far I am pretty happy. Tony's gave me a pretty good price ($180). They have done wonders for the understeer, so full marks there. It tracked really nicely going down the hairpin turn at the top of Glenmore road this morning. They do seem a little louder than the old ones, but thats probably because they were pretty worn. Nothing major any way.

Bridgestone RE001 (Adrenalines) have been cheaper than T1Rs when I've bought them and much better tyres in my experience. T1R's grip ok but the sidewalls are just too soft and weak for a heavyish car - I think all of mine got retired by excessive shoulder wear and sidewall cuts well before the tread wore out.

I have had similar problems. But when a T1R is well under $200 per tyre for 215/45/17 I really cant complain.

  • 3 months later...

I'm thinking it may be time to get rid of the Sunew's (don't even bother googling it) on the old forester so I tried getting some prices around town.

My best mate needs a couple of tyres for his XR8 so these prices are based on buying 6:

Bridgestone Potenza RE001 (Adrenalin)

225 45 18 (4 of these for me)

245 40 18 (2 of these)

retail balanced and fitted is $289 each although I've been quoted up to $300.

Best price when purchasing the six required has been $250 each (same for both sizes, balanced and fitted)

Good deal or not?

:)

Unless I'm losing the plot several answers have disappeared.

To sum up from memory:

T1r's would be good but the price in that size is approximately the same?

Adrenalns are pretty good, price is pretty good.

Directional=good in wet

Asymmetrical=good in wet and dry?

:)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
