Mid-range tyre choice

Recommended Posts

How does the Proxes4 sidewall strength compare with T1R etc? Thinking about trying something harder-wearing than the RE001 next time (to last longer with my gravel antics), but if they have the same sidewall behaviour as the T1R then I'll scrub them off the list.

One dark, wet, windy road cruise was enough to put me off the Proxes 4's ;) Went straight to 050's and have never looked back.

I never found the Proxes 4's that confidence inspiring but they were pretty good bang for the buck and looked like they last forever :)

As a mid range tyre choice, they're a pretty good choice.

I recently got 21,000km out of a pair of Proxes4 on the front of my BF GT. Very disappointed. I felt that they weren't as direct-feeling as the T1R I previously had on the car, and didn't feel as secure on wet roads either. Ironically, I now have a pair of Nankang NS2 on the front just for giggles, and strangely they seem to suit the car better IMHO. I used to be a brand snob, preferring Michelin and Pirelli but in all honesty I've been pleasantly surprised by the NS2. Having just said that, I'm aware that 90% of those reading this will no doubt roll their eyes . . . 8)

Thinking out load, I wonder if the tread compound varies much according to tyre diameter. I'm running 16" rims on my car, whereas I notice that many are running 17" & 18" rims. Could be a consideration.

I wouldn't regard Toyo T1-R's as a mid-range tyre.. They are a pretty mean tyre! and yeah feels very similar to older Goodyear Eagle F1 directionals. I got a set of 4 for $765.00 ;D

Ah! How come everyone gets the t1r's so cheap? I am clearly getting ripped off haha!

I dunno bro, this time last year I got quoted $230+ per tyre :-\ think da recession killed tyre sales.. so tyre companys are giving out sweet deals :)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
