hi all,

im looking at purchasing a sti v8 hopefully soon and thought it might be a good idea to join and ask around for some advice.

i would really like to know what i should be looking at paying, what to look for when inspecting, common problems etc. Also if theres any good buys out there that i should be looking at.

version 8 are still on the expensive side for what they are but in saying that they are nice cars only been for a ride in one once better turbos than version 7s (twin scroll) some say better looks but thats down to personal preference

Fantastic car all around

It's got good power all around handling Nd interior Nd looks the part

Bit expensive but very good for the $

Oh only thing I don like abt it is it doesn't sound like a proper Subaru but then some Ppl like the sound

Up to u really on that one but yea not mny things that are not good on it

U will love it

Also for very similar money u can get a v9 which arguably maybe the best of the gd shPe cars according to many

Agree that it doesn't sound like a subaru. We had a v8 wrx v ltd and it didn't have that subaru rumble. We have now got the v10 st and have the rumble back again.

Overall though we loved the v8, we found it good value for money, good pickup and driving ability. The only fault we had (and no of others with v8 with the same problem is the shocks knocking. It has also been advised to us (by subaru mechanic and others) that the knocking does not cause a problem or dmage its just annoying. Turn stereo up and it eleviates it lol.

They are great cars, I bought mine before Christmas after having owned most of the other models eg V5, V7 Sti's and V4 Sti RA and like the V8 Sti the best. I paid $18,250 for mine its done 100,000ks completely standard, very mint and tidy only 1 minor scratch on the whole car etc. So yeah pretty pricey compaired to paying $14k for a similar V7 Sti but I think its worth it!

V8 STi is a V7 STi with exterior facelift, Thunderbird 2 rear wing, V7 RA Spec C cams and twin scroll headers + VF37, hypereutectic alloy (rather than forged) pistons, new (and still ugly) steering wheel, softer wider seats.

V9 STi is a V8 STi with new stronger 5x114 hubs, wider rims, Spec C front suspension arms and geometry changes, facelifted interior, yaw sensing diff setup.

IMHO the one to get is a V8 STi Spec C if you want a blobeye. I wouldn't go for a plain V8 STi, as the V7 RA Spec C is a much better car from a performance standpoint (and you get used to the bugeye!). If you're not prepared to live with a Spec C and want more comfort/amenities, then I'd agree that for a bit more money the V9 STi is the way to go.

Also V9 had the highest output standard STi engine. (not including Spec C etc etc)

V8 or moderate km v7 ie http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=362290583

in my opinion this is a tidy car ,and i would buy it if i didnt already own 1.

I would be going v8 for that money or paying a tiny bit more and getting a v9.

V7s should be 11-14k in my opinion. Theres so many blue ones, I certainly wouldnt pay good money for one.

The only way I see to do it Wud be a single turbo manifold and up pope and also turbo and downpipe and in fact rest of exhaust as the v8 is fully different from older

Also a single turbo sump as twin scroll one might foul - not 100% on this tho

Anyway it's a fairly full on change lol

Hahaha dont really think anyone Wud Wana do all that. Might as well buy a single scroll Nd sVe a big wad of cash and put on a v8 scoop hahah

Or if u can then a v8 front

mmmmm some day 8)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
