My radiator cracked this morning Started looking for a replacement and noticed that some have BH/BE turbo pre-facelift/early in their description - is there a real difference between pre and facelift radiators? A good (cheap) source in Auckland? Used or new? Alloy or plastic? ???

Silverdale seem allgood never had one fail. Have used other sources but their ones are cheap and do the job.

Yeah both BH: 98-01 and 01-03, some sellers on trademe claim that earlier won\'t fit later and then A1 radiators have the same part number for BH/BE and GGA/GDA, they do look similar though ???

DOBC says no to alloys, especially in my price bracket.

Agreed, i fail to see the need for alloy radiators especially for a standard car!!

You can often get an upgrade as a 3 row opposed to the 2 row most cars/trucks have for the same money. Still plastic topped but if its the same money for quality do it. If alloy topped for same money do it also.

Problem is I can\'t really tell what goes to the throttle body cos it\'s hard to see where anything goes just after the intercooler, it\'s all kind of hidden or blocked from view.

Could I use the hose that recircs the air from the BOV? I\'m guessing this would be the larger of the two pipes coming off of it? What is the small hose at the top for? It kind of looks like it goes to the intake manifold but it\'s hard to be sure as I can\'t get a good view of it.

When car is warm and idling, is the boost gauge meant to show a solid vac reading? Mine like to wobble between -50 and -45

depends how instantaneous your gauge is, it will float a bit.

my oil gauge does the same

trying to remove front bumper but cant get the license plate mount bolts off.they have a funny star shape screw,can anyone tell me how id remove the screws/bolts

remove the whole bumper iron with the bumper plastic attached

4 main bolts, in the engine bay at the front of the chassis rail, 2 per side.

then the bolts that hold the edges in on the front quarter panels.

Planing to replace my cracked radiator tomorrow - what do I need to know? How much coolant do I need to buy? Is the coolant reusable (nice bright green colour), tips on bleeding the system afterwords?

Dont be cheep buy new coolant. Hardest part will be rebleeding it after

It\'s a Lamco boost gauge, but that puts me to ease.

Student life man (pretty damn hard to be a student again after working full-time for years ;D) How much do I need to buy?

Does this bleeding procedure (found on nasioc) sound right? Anything to add?

 

Add coolant mix back into the rad. I followed the [50:50 Subaru coolant: distilled water] mix plus the Subaru coolant additive since I\'m in full on winter. I need the antifreeze :tdown:.

- Leave both radiator caps off.

- Pour coolant mix slowly into radiator slowing using a funnel (the slower you go, less air bubbles from bubbling).

- While doing this, squeeze the top radiator hose which will also burp the system a bit while pouring.

- When the radiator is full (the Koyo took about 7L+), fill the coolant reservoir.

Step 13 -

Burp the system. With the caps off, start the car.

- The coolant will bubble and "burp" and foam which is what you want since the air is being purged from the system.

- Revving the motor to 2k was also recommended from the Subaru service manual and forum threads.

Step 14 -

Once the system is burped, add coolant to the radiator and the reservoir so that they\'re both full.

Step 15 -

Reinstall upper radiator supports
