Dumb Question Thread!

Got a dumb audio questions

Bought a high to low level converter, using it to get a signal to the new sub. The rca output is just left and right which makes sense but the high level input has left +ve and -ve, right +ve and -ve which has me a bit stumped as the stock sub has the expected +ve and -ve. Should i go across from left +ve to right -ve like bridging two channels on an amp or something else??

I'm using the same in the mrs's car, has no sub-out so I just have both rear channels (left and right) going to either on the converter then the amp is bridged

If you just have a single + and - to work with (factory sub output?) then maybe just split both + and - into two, and feed into the left and right channel? Would be a simple fix

If you can crack it before removing them, it makes life easier

They can be a bastard to crack if the strut is out and it doesn't want to budge (hence the rattle gun)

For extra lols, just do it when out of the car and aim the spring at the fence, see how big a dent you can make in it

Do 22B have wider headlights and/or parklights to fill the gap the wider guards make or is that gap you see on a lot of cars with fiberglass 22B guards a side affect of ****ty copied guards?

I like the idea of having some 22B guards but the OCD in me wont let me have a dirty big gap by the parklight... I will struggle enough at the gap by the door.

No they have normal head/park lights. Those Luxury Sports guards are just a bad design and look crap.

Try Mike Shaw Fibreglass in Hamilton, he does a really nice fitting 22b kit to suit the 4 door.

Thanks Tony, I will follow that up.

Got most of my bits and pieces together now btw so hoping to get the car dropped out to you guys to get a few bits put on and for a tune in the next few months.

Okay so something a little different now to twin turbo issues. 98 BD5C. Last weekend driving home I heard a bit of an odd noise from the F/R wheel. from the heat I imagined something was up with the brake on that wheel. smell I can't quite put my finger on, also a noise I just can't really explain, nothing I've heard before. Took the wheel off (f**king tight wheel nuts) to find nothing seeming out of place/loose etc. Went for another drive a few nights ago, used very minimal brake in the approx 20 minute drive, heard the noise again near home. It was dark, front right wheel giving off A LOT more heat that front left, as in could touch the left rotor for 5+ seconds if I had to versus 1 or 2 on the right. Thoughts on what's happening here? I would imagine temps varying that much shouldn't really happen? And the noise as well meaning something isn't right, likely with the brake set up and not something else?

I am guessing something like the calliper sticking on? I don't know much about anything though sadly. Maybe a good reason to upgrade to four pot fronts

Stuck/seized slider bolt, or a seized piston in the calliper. Unbolt the calliper and check the slider bolts are still sliding, one pad might be wearing on an angle. Then see if you can press the pistons back in. Keep an eye on the fluid reservoir when pressing the pistons in, it might overflow.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
