XT6 on trademe, who owns it?

XT6 on trademe, anyone on here? Im trying to get one, but due to AUS import laws, it needs to be built PRE jan. 1989

Im looking at selling my legacy to get one, but finding it really hard, needs to be built in 88, which makes it very tight,

I sold my late 1987 one. Have you checked Japan? 1 comes up from time to time?

XT6s wernt sold untill late 87.

How come you can only get a 88?

Also inst there a import rule if you want to buy a car from here and import it over you had to live here for a year?

oh cool, i didnt think they made them until late 88, thats great news-should make it easier to find one:)

with the whole 'own it for a year thing, that is for personal imports, when you want to bring your own car over, any model you want, as long as it's yours, hence the proof of ownership and requirement of logs.

There is a law here that lets anyone bring in a car and comply it, only requiring an engineers cert, stating that it met ADR's in the year it was built, and a roadworthy cert. Anycar you want, modified, whatever, as long as it's pre-1989.

The other way is via the 'enthusiest / performance' cars import list, A list that the government has compiled with cars that are allowed to be low volume 'grey' imports, have to be 'factory standard'. Unfortunately, to get a model on the list it costs a workshop about $20,000, which is why we get loads of skylines, stageas, supras, etc. No subies are on 'the list'

BTW, the 'one' on trade me, which I cannot get (post1988), has the digi dash, did they put them in the 6's, or did someone work out how to convert the tacho?

the top of the line turbo 1800 vortexs/ XT4s up to 1987 came with digi dashes. base models came with analogue gauges.

But XT6s only came with analogue gauges

Nah i ment the XT6 was made from late 1987 for 1988 market (maybe trial cars for dealers?)

made them to 1991.

I thought that too when i saw GL10. But apparntly they called the very early XT4s GL10s ( I think the ones from 1985 )

Yea i saw the digi dash on that. Its been added by the guy I would say. Its a very hard to convert it over to a Digi dash.
