I notice in the latest P car mag STM have bought one as a project car.

Yeah some good coverage on their farcebook page, they killed the stock brake pads in 3000Km...

Usual story, bit light on go but a great package for a stock road car. Brakes and tyres first to get upgraded then more power

Yeah sounds about right, though from what I can tell one of the benefit of the Prius spec tyres is the laugh out loud tail-happiness, which may not be so enjoyable with grippier tyres with the stock power output anyway.

Word on the Subaru street is that they are dropping the price of the BRZ\'s they are bringing in in Decemer by 10k, down to 50k instead of 60k.

I reckon that had to be done, for them to be competitive against the GT86

And then it\'ll be on par with what every other country is getting charged, so sweet. That ground my gears that we were paying so much extra for no reason.

Ive been telling people this will happen.

Its going to be the new Volkswagon - the peoples car ...

The TR 86 racecar remains road legal, but will be specced with an FIA-compliant homologated rollcage, race suspension, a performance exhaust and ECU upgrade. Interior tweaks include customised race seats and six-point belts. It will be a turn-key racer, so there\'s nothing left to do.

Aside from the fact that it\'s the easiest Targa prep you\'ll ever have to do, the car will be compliant with a number of disciplines - potentially including a whole new race series (see other story, this page).

Both the 86 RC "stripper" and the TR 86 competition car will go on sale early in the New Year.

Basically the article says they are bringing out new bare bones packages, one ready for race, one ready to mod. Unpainted bumpers, no a/c, no stereo etc.

All will be road legal.

So for you goons looking for a cheap targa car or track car to spec up...here you go. Can guarantee in a couple years there will be 86 specific race classes in NZ.

Cheap...? I know the one they advertised in Oz recently was built by Possum Bourne Motorsport, so would be rather expensive. Modern race cars, even just converted road cars with an FIA compliant setup are damned expensive to build...

And there is this, which adds to the concept:

Either way, sounds like it would be good competition for the Suzuki Swift category, as they are probably similar speed... Would be interesting to pit the two categories together.

Dunno if the Swifts need competition, haven\'t they struggled to get full fields in past years ?

???

Good luck - if it doesnt say V8something it sees no TV time / why sponsor it

Unless you want to start wearing a flatpeak cap / DC\'s and do some sik y0 d1nz or whatever the drift competition is called this year

Which judging by the billboards, toyota would probably prefer you did. Shame the flatpeak crowd aren\'t quite the right demographic for a $45k automobile tho

drove past an FT86 yesterday.

Had to do a double take to work out what it was. Looked pretty good in the flesh

fully opposite reaction for me..

looks rather silly and dispropotionate (compared to the 96 celica it was driving next to

there is a guy who drives one round my area so have looked at it a fair few times and still not lioking it (secretly waiting to see the BRZ and then hoping to like that being the suby version lol)

This.

In CHCH the plates are kinda annoying, MYGT86, HER86, nearly everyone I see has one.

Third-party components are also encouraged, and it is possible that Japanese tuning company HKS\' supercharger kit will be among the first on many checklists.

The kit boosts power and torque by a claimed 30 per cent and boosts power from 147kW to 180kW with the only structural modification required being the moving of the radiator frame to allow space for the car\'s extra plumbing. For those who want even more power, it is thought the unit could be opened up to 300kW with additional modifications.

Pretty clever decision imo leaving it n/a, avoids any warranty issues for Toyota/Subaru up to these 3rd parties, I\'d say there will be so many power up options available shortly, the problem will just be choosing which one.

As the stock ecu\'s will be so easily modified to allow for power-ups an aftermarket ecu won\'t be required for big powerups like turbo/superchargers

Seriously, is this what kids are calling it these days.

Too much Mario Kart.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
