Mintex 1166

Recommended Posts

Anyone used them? Just wanting opinions on how good they are?

Mainly interested in a pad that doesnt require heating up (its for my Legacy rallycar - so need to be working by the first corner!)

Im asking as I have never used any Mintex pads before. However I have been offered a good deal on them.

I ran a set on the front of my VS Commodore for a couple of years.

I found them very dusty and fairly noisy (they would make interesting noises at low speeds and would make a whirling type sound when pulling up from high speeds) but they stopped really really well right from cold and I never got them to fade.

For comparison, before that I had a set of Ferodo TS2000's on the front and the Ferodo's were slightly less dusty and were quieter but felt worse then factory pads when cold (I had frequent scary moments when pulling up at lights when the car was fresh out of the garage) but once they had 30-40kph of heat into them they were amazing i.e. If you were braking from 100, by the time your speed got to 70kph all of a sudden the nose would bury itself into the ground and you'll stop real quick!!! I also managed to make the TS2000's fade round town a number of times after a few hard stops around the back streets.

But yeah, the Mintex pads were much more consistent and much better when cold.

Great stopping power cold, insane stopping power warmed up. Couldn't get them to fade, even when torturing them during the bedding in process. Pretty dusty. Not consistently noisy at low speeds but the occasional squeak. Recommended.

::)

Ran Mintex 1166 in the front of my STi, definitely need some heat in them and they chewed up my DBA 5000's.

But they did an excellent job of stopping.

Have had 2 sets and they have excellent stopping power.

They heated up my disks which follows from track-braking and disks needed major cooling down. Probably mostly down to the driver. For rallies and sprints, there is more cool-down time between corners, so less hot disks.

Highly recommended.

(Have TS2000's now, and previously 2 x Lucas, 2 x EBC Redstuff Ceramic, 3 x Bendix Ultimates, not in that order.)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
