Reversed scoop

has any one actually tested the reversed scoop to see if it actually works to lower under bonnet temps ? the reason i ask is i use to think back in the day spacing your bonnet hinges to raise the bonnet would effectively do the same thing and let the hot air out . . . . but in fact it does not work ! a guy on a Honda forum ran a thermometer on his strut brace and logged what was the temp under there . was around 10 degree HOTTER With the raised bonnet . . . as the low pressure zone was actually holding the hot air in the bay as factory designed the air flow to flow out under the car

yeah and would the scoop facing forward not blow the hot air down and under the car like mr subaru designed.....?

ive not tested it but having the other way with no TMIC only makes me think its raming more air in through the bonnet - thus being higher pressure at the point of the manifold under the bonnet. My thinking is this makes it harder for air to push through the FMIC and radiator.

By hoping to create low pressure out of the bonnet it would aid the air flow through the front air dam and out the scoop and under the car.

This all said im no engineer nor have i tested it

This is why I did it also. Haven't been for a drive yet with the laptop plugged in to see if it aids intake temps. Was at 18°C avg while moving at 100kmh on a 17°C day with the scoop facing forwards. No idea when I'll be using the car next, but will report back when I do.

Racetech do a thermometer sticker thing. Stick it on the surface and tells you how hot it gets. They had it on the Hulme supercar . Unfortunately last time I spoke to David black he threw a whole bunch out have to get them through racetech uk now

But yeah could be a way of testing how hot it gets..

FWIW my max ever intake temp was 38°C according to the Link. Most likely was being stuck in traffic on a stinking hot day. Can't see this temp being affected by the reverse scoop but thought some people may find that interesting.
