lol do you take a commission at dtech, yea i wish i never went there in the first place, but then most people i talk to rate him,and i spos PF still couldnt tune it right either (but thats prob the engines fault) and charged more than twice what they quoted

lol i wish the amount of work iv sent their way over the years.

You will pay a bit but at least you know itl get done right..

Would rather pay a bit more and get a good job personally.

PF are usually pretty good also from what iv heard however never done personally.

Oh to answer your original question to swap an engine is pretty straight forward not to hard at all.

Reading through this thread it would seem that you give an engine a hard time.

Interested i am at the causes, Were oil galleries changed in these engines to suit hi powers? Are you in the habit of redlining your motors off the rev limiter??

I am capable of building a very rugged motor with very high power ability.

Built, installed, set-up and tuned by Soopersubaru we will warranty for 20,000K (we must carry out due services and retunes too)

hmm, one customer at a shop killed a motor and took it back to find out why. shop checked the ecu logs, and it had hit the rev limiter over 2,000 times. warranty on performance build? you're keen

Impossible to download codes to prove over rev!

However if this is how you treat your engine it will always blow up.

Never count on the electronics to protect your investment...You need to learn to back off a bit on rpm and hold on the throttle,OR change up a gear. Not just keep your foot flat!!

Keen as to build one, etc. RPM is not the answer to high power or speed.

I assume we are talking about a standard road subbie?

20K approx to build, install and tune for first 1000km(engine only) 250 kw atw on a dyno sheet.

the car was mainly used for swinging helis and showing off to mates. was a mildly serious setup if i remember the story by the dude who told it. dunno what ecu can report on rev limit bounces. probably motec or something fancy

well tauranga might suck for mechanics but its fair too say last year i rebuilt approx 50 to 60 subbie engines with not too many issues you will always have some probs etc at least i admit to that not like other tauranga mechanics who think its never there fault hey i always try my hardest for every budget but unforntantely some budgets are bigger than others which is reflected in whats carried out i think most tauranga mechanics arent any different to any others cheers

im not bagging ya mishy, hes not lying i love thrashing my car,the 1st engine was the original 150000km 1 and i gave that constant punishment for 20000km before it finally did the inevitable and died, the 2nd was a nice forged engine,i still gave it shit but nowhere near as much as the standard 1 receievd (but still lots),and like i said earlier was prob my fault cause was only getting the water up to temp before giving it some spirited driving,i didnt realise youre not supposed to give them boost until the oils up to temp, whoops costly mistake, the last forged engine was done for me quite cheaply as a favour,so like said i get what i pay for i guess, but was driven like a nana most the time cause it was so sick from whatever gremlins hiding in the car.i really shouldve done what everyones been telling me to do for years and thrown a match on this never ending money pit though.

Sounds like you have had an attack of the sensibilities. Race prepared engines warmed and treated with respect will give years of enjoyment.

As mishy says...It's a budget matches power thing. Not an easy one to sell to some customers.

However today's engine management computers do allow us engineers to set some limits these days.

Being an auto should not make any difference. Although i would fit an after market gearbox computer to complement the up rated engine too! or at the very least reconfigure the engine computer to blip at full throttle around 6500rpm to cause an early gear change. Before the limiter does it!

Happy to build to requirement's and budget with warranty.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
