Lowering a v9 sti

Recommended Posts

hi guys

Was looking into lowering my sti (v9), I am not wanting to drop it to low and I definalty do not want to comprimise its handling by putting cheap shit in the car but I cant afford good adjusties, wat should I do? are there good springs or something I can get for the car? I know very little about suspension

cheers

i think but don't quote me that ver 7 8 9 have the same suspension set up ? some one will confirm or say im wrong but some low lowering springs should do what you want . don't get super lows if you only want a small drop . from memory low is on average around a 20mm drop and super low around a 40 to 50mm drop

Version 9 has a different setup to the 7 and 8. I would say that you wait a while, save up and get something decent - either good coilovers or a matched shock and spring combo from someone that knows what they're doing.

I my experince, fitting lowered springs to factory shocks just messes up the ride and handling. Your alignment will be off as well.

Don't know if the v9 and V10 are any different but we have just had our v10 lowered with Teins sports lowering springs. Has improved the round town driving, not made it so coarse (hard).

It lowered it by 30mm at the back and 15mm at the front.

coil overs is a very bad mis guided word to use . because realistically all our subarus have coil overs ! meaning coil over strut ! opposite to old style suspension where the spring was separate to the strut . . .

the correct term would be adjustable suspension . there are allot of different types of adjustable suspension . these require Cert and are not the greatest for every day driving ! low lowering springs are perfectly fine if you want that slight drop in ride height . go for progressive rate springs if you want it a bit firmer and to corner better with reduced body roll .

^^^^ how much did those springs set you back? where did you get them from?

sheeeeesh they add a good wack on the price to fit them ! so easy to fit lol

It did include wheel alignment.

I had rung around and springs were $250 odd plus Gst = $275 odd a pair. Two pair approx $550.

I thought the $150 odd for wheel alignment snd fitting a pretty good deal for fitting from the professionals.

Get a set of Race Comp Engineering (RCE) Yellow springs used off NASIOC. They pop up all the time. The spring rate is developed to match the dampers in GDB STis, and they offer some drop, but not enough to push your rear suspension arms into positive camber on corners. RCE are one of the top local brand names in the US for aftermarket STi suspension.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
