Having to replace a nissan GTI which got tail ended by non insured driver but State are writing it off and covering us for $1700.. very nicely.

Not much around under $2500 but this is an option...thoughts? Good that cambelt done...do they blow up like turbo models?

no they arent all mostlyy 1.8L and above are 4wd but u do find them all in fwd and awd the 1500's tho from my knowledgde are fwd 9/10 or even just all of them . also looks pretty good for the price of it nice and tidy

Only NZ new range went all AWD.

JDMs were available in 2wd sedan/wagon with 1.5, 1.6 and 1.8 engines, depending on year.

i had 1 of these as my first car when i was 16. very economical, comfy to drive and not too fast.

only downside is, car thieves like to target these. as with most subarus. i had mine for 6 weeks before it got pinched from outside my house and turned up 3 weeks later in some guys paddock bashed to crap and was written off.

so if you do get it i would defiantly recommend getting insurance, mine set me back $40 a month for 3rd party fire and theft with AA, and that was when i was on my learners, had quite a bit of excess but hey, getting something back was better than getting nothing.

as long as its got good tyres on it, i dont think there will be much differance at all in the controlling, performance, or safety of the car compared to a AWD . like i said, they dont have a lot of power so your son would have to be pulling handbrakes to get it to go side ways with good tyres on it haha.

I my experience they cost more to repair when they go belly up than what they are worth, and when you try to flog it off most buyers are turned off by the FWD only thing because they are so attuned to the successful marketing from SubaruNZ
