flipping the manifold

Just a couple questions, I have heard of the "phenolic gasket" trick to get the idle control to clear the power steering fluid reservoir....

But I also hear that people have issues with bonnet clearance with the flipped manifold mod as well? (mainly legacies?)

I have a v4 sti, if I flip the manifold (by turning 180) and put 2 sets of phenolic gaskets on, will I have any clearance issues?

Also, are there going to be any issues with throttle linkage clearance with the alternator bracket? I have the alloy bracket and it looks from my eye-ball-ometer that it might foul a bit.

You can get gaskets that are around 5mm thick or bigger so that should sort the power steering issue

Bonnet clearance shouldn't be an issue on V4 if you get the angle right with the silicone joiner and IC pipe

Yea the throttle linkage does hit the alternator (sp) bracket, grinder fixes this up ;) you gota cut it up for the flipped alternator (sp) anyways

Then you got to re-plumb everything, which id say would be a right cun t if you were running a stock intake and turbo placement, was still a bit of work with a custom intake, I probably wouldn't do this mod unless you relocate the turbo and obliviously custom intake, then the header tank will be in the way... so thats got to be relocated. And then there will still be wee bits and pieces that will need sorting, all in all its quite a bit of work involved but if ya can do it ya self and make a good job of it pays off! and its a hell of a lota fun doing it ;D

you can avoid the powersteering issue by simply using the remote resourvior tht sum models have factory. wil give heapz of clearance. or gt a link ecu then you dnt need the idle control valve.

or use a Nissan one with bit of home made flange for the win :P

haha lou. thats the brake booster one way valve.

it looks like a standard manifold, just with the centre cut out and fliped over like a forwards roll.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
