v3 and v4 sti ecu

The ECU's are different though. I do believe the V3 is the more... aggressive, of the two. Or at least i've been told...

I'd love to try both and see just how different they are from the drivers point of view.

yes interchangeable.. V3 STi usaully 6s and v4 is (i think)8s.

negative. V4 STI / STI RA / STI R are all ecu code 75

they do share the same pinouts, pretty sure they are interchangable but its the one thing i havn't tried yet. i think the boost solenoid plumbing is different. not sure if its important

Im told the tune between a ver 3 & 4 sti ecu is different.

The difference mostly down to the slightly more agressive cams on the 3. The p20 exhaust housing would play its part as well in the need for a different tune.

as far as i read around it seems the v4 sti has slightly more torque and drivebility so tunes must be slightlly diffreent -

on the USA forum there was a thread saying that the type RA had a lower tune than standard sti based on its shorter gearing

not sure if that was true for v3/4 or only v2

ok so the question also stands is which ecu would be aggressively tuned for performance etc.... v3 or v4? so i can decide which one to go for , for my v4 wrx... was thnking v4 sti type r or ra, aparetly no difference between both of them so yea ....

I would say, if you had to chose between V3 and 4... def go V3 6S

I've got a 6S in the GTB, and it's brilliant. Compare it to the old TT ECU, and it's just liberal with the petrol, crackles and pops everywhere, it's a mean driving experience.

Dunno how it stacks up to the V4 one, but what i've heard is the V4's a bit more tame.

Yeah, i'd love to get a hold of one and see. Till then, all hearsay and ponderings

Only comparison i do have is between the 206KW 3 Plug GTB ECU and the 206K V3 STi ecu. The GTB one was soooooooo boring compared, i never heard a crackle out the exhaust with it.

oh. this is your black wagon i was following out of taupo? that had a 6S in it? you or Shale did put the hammer down at one point?

well lol its allllll down to weight. 6S or 75 isn't going to make a massive difference. much better than V1/V2 tho ;)

STI ecu is always going to be the most aggressive. but an ecu is tuned to a particular engine.

v3 / v4 engines are essentially the same, however its generally said the v3 has more aggressive cams. and they run slightly different turbos.

so you can assume the v3 ecu is tuned around this. how well the v3 or v4 ecus work with slightly different cams is anyones guess.

Bump. And can someone confirm that this ECU runs grey tops and a purple AFM?

negative, the 1S or IS runs yellow injectors and Orange AFM. its the bad boy jdm wrx with vf22 and 280ps

your thinking of the 2S which is based on the EJ20G

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
