Swapping VF13 & 14 For VF18 & 19?

My primary turbo (VF13) is crapping out.

Just wanted a bit of feedback on replacing both primary and secondary (VF14) with a VF18 and 19.

I'm guessing it should be pretty straight forward fit wise. What about control? Should I get an ECU to go with them or will it run allright with the existing ECU?

Any input appreciated.

My mate done that conversion on his RS and it worked mint - no ECU change required.

go next gen and get 26/27 OR 31/32 ETC

Subaru Legacy GTB E Tune station wagons have a vf31 primary turbo and vf32 secondary turbo

any 18/19 pair you get will be just as tired

I now have VF31 Primary and VF27 Secondry pair in mine - hoping to dyno next weekend

Excellent, thats just the kind of info I was after I knew later would be better but didn't know what later models had in em. So these larger turbos will still just bolt up, with the same oil and water lines etc?

I paid a mechanic to do - he doesnt want to do it again haha

but yea - they are not larger - just newer BUT as Reuben said 26/27 combo is generally regarded as the best of the bunch

yes AFAIK straight bolt in...

The main thing I'm after is durability, I have a Rage exhaust with the big downpipes so want turbos that will last without having to do fiddle with the wastegate to stop the primary overspooling and eventually dying. Plus a bit of extra boost and drivability wouldn't go astray.

I wouldnt bother goig to an 18/19 - most are koosed anyway by now, look for B4 era turbos, Viv mentioned something about flange sizes/ not matching up?

which may be my problem (now 130kw - but safe!)

The Compressor housing is much bigger on the VF33 than my VF20 and both the intercooler and intake connections are much larger than those on my VF20 - so there is no way I can fit them on my car without changing the intake pipe and intercooler pipe. I assume my VF20 is the same size as other TT turbos of the same era, so I can only assume that the VF33 was an upgraded turbo in comparison to earlier B4 turbos? Mine came off an 01 B4, so towards the end of the model range I guess?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
